EDEN PRAIRIE WENT UP AGAINST MINNEAPOLIS SOUTH IN A FOOTBALL GAME

Eden Prairie and South squared off in a football game Aug. 27. Eden Prairie kicked off to start the game. 

South got the ball on their own 24 yard line. South’s quarterback Anthony Hockett looked to the air on their first drive. They were not able to get a first down so they punted on fourth-and-11.

Eden Prairie got the ball on the 28 yard line. Will Rains ran for 28 yards for a touchdown.  The extra-point attempt was not good. 

With 10:01 left in the first quarter the score was Eden Prairie 6, South 0.

South got the ball back after the touchdown on their own 22 yard line. South kept the ball in the air as they looked to move the ball down the field. South punted the ball on fourth-and-six. Eden Prairie’s J.D. Spielman took the punt to the end zone for a touchdown. The extra-point was not good. 

With 8:03 left in the first quarter the score was Eden Prairie 12, South 0. 

South again got the ball back after the touchdown.  With the ball on their own 20 yard line South was intercepted by Blake Cashman and ran it in for a touchdown. Brandon Gould’s extra-point attempt was not good.

With 6:03 left in the first quarter the score was Eden Prairie 18, South 0.

South once again got the ball back after the touchdown. This time they got it on their own 35 yard line. The Eden Prairie defense stepped up as they were able to slow down the South offense.

South called a timeout with 5:23 left in the first quarter. The score was Eden Prairie 18, South 0.

South’s running game was stuffed by the powerful Eden Prairie defense. 

The Eden Prairie offense took over on downs on the 37 yard line. Rains came up with some big plays as he came up with a touchdown on a one-yard run. The extra-point attempt was good.

With 1:26 left in the first quarter the score was Eden Prairie 25, South 0. 

South started out on the 25 yard line. South looked to get into an offensive rhythm late.  

After one quarter of play the score was Eden Prairie 25, South 0.

South’s Brian Palmer looked to move the ball down the field by using his quickness to get past the defenders. 

South’s Conner Leech came up with some nice receptions but it was not enough as Eden Prairie got the ball back on downs. 

Eden Prairie’s Josh Lanasa made a huge catch as he was able to get a first down and move the chains. Alex Hetherington scored a touchdown on a short run. The extra-point attempt was not good.

With 8:04 left in the second quarter the score was Eden Prairie 31, South 0.

South got the ball back after the touchdown. They scored a touchdown on an Elerson Smith 85-yard reception. Smith caught the ball and ran as he was chased by the entire Eden Prairie defense. 

The extra-point attempt was not good. 

With 7:42 left in the second quarter the score was Eden Prairie 31, South 6.

Eden Prairie got the ball after the touchdown they turned again to the running game. Eden Prairie’s Sam Nawrock came up with some huge yards with good runs. He was also able to get first downs. Teammate Ben Adams also was able to move the ball down the field as well as he was able to get past defenders.

Eden Prairie’s Brandon Gould attempted a 21-yard field goal and it was good to end the first half.

At halftime the score was Eden Prairie 34, South 6. 

South kicked off to start the third quarter. Eden Prairie got the ball on the 49 yard line. The kick went 10 yards. 

Eden Prairie’s Bryant continued to pound the ball down the field as they wanted to keep the clock moving. Teammate Belal Omar scored a touchdown on a short run. The extra point attempt was good. 

With 8:20 left in the third quarter the score was Eden Prairie 41, South 6.

Eden Prairie kicked off and the ball went into the end zone for a touchback. South got the ball on the 20 yard line.  

South looked to move the ball down the middle of the field. They were not successful at doing that because of the defensive muscle was too much by Eden Prairie. 

Eden Prairie took over on downs. Eden Prairie was not able to get a first down so they turned the ball over on downs.

South got the ball back on their own 18 yard line.  On fourth-and-five to go so South decided to go for it but they were not able to get a first down so Eden Prairie took over. 

After three quarters of play the score was Eden Prairie 41, South 6.

Eden Prairie’s Burns got the ball and picked up a first down on a short run. Eden Prairie’s Tom Swartout for a 3-yard touchdown. The extra-point attempt was good.  

With 10:21 left in the fourth quarter the score was Eden Prairie 48, South 6.  

South got the ball on the 20 yard line. South looked to confuse the Eden Prairie defense. They were changing different offensive patterns. South turned the ball over on downs.  

Eden Prairie looked again to the end zone as they wanted to score again. The South defense came up big as they were able to get a turnover on downs. 

South took over on their own 26 yard line. The defense was able to slow the m down as they were able to look for ways for South to cough up the ball. South kept the ball alive as they were able to come up with short runs.  

Eden Prairie came away with the 48-6 victory over South.
