Lakeville South and Prior Lake went up against each other in the opening week of the football season Aug. 29.
Lakeville South kicked off to start the game. The ball went into the end zone for a touchback.
Prior Lake got the ball on the 20 yard line. Prior Lake’s Cullen Sowder came up with the ball. Prior Lake’s Alex Hart came up with a 57-yard touchdown run. Tyler Hanson’s extra point attempt was good.
With 10:23 left in the first quarter the score was Prior Lake 7, Lakeville South 0.
Lakeville South got the ball on their 35 yard line. The defense stepped up big and forced Lakeville South to punt the ball on fourth-and-six. Prior Lake fumbled the ball and Lakeville South recovered the ball. Grant Mosser caught a 39-yard touchdown pass from quarterback Mitch Wolkow. The extra point attempt was good.
With 8:53 left in the first quarter the score was tied at 7.
Wolkow was all over the field. He did a good job of finding his receivers.
Prior Lake was not able to move the ball down the field so they elected to punt on fourth down.
Lakeville South took over on the Prior Lake 38 yard line. Lakeville South was not afraid to use both the air and the ground attack throughout the first half. On fourth-and-one to go Josh Corchran came up with a nice reception for a first down. Moser attempted a 27-yard field goal which was blocked.
Prior Lake came up with an 80-yard reception by Lucas Olson to Jacob Hitz for a touchdown. The extra-point attempt was good. With 3:47 left in the first quarter the score was Prior Lake 14, Lakeville South 7.
Lakeville South kicked off after the touchdown. Prior Lake’s Nick Raddatz came up with an interception as they took over on offense. Jacob Rosonke came up with an eight-yard run. That got Prior Lake into the red zone. Andrew Owodunni came up with a three-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
With 58.2 seconds left in the first quarter the score was Prior Lake 21, Lakeville South 7.
That was the score after one quarter of play.
Lakeville South was not able to get a first down and had to punt the ball on fourth down and short.
Prior Lake got the ball back on their own 20 yard line. Prior Lake had trouble moving the ball down the field. Prior Lake’s Cullen Soweder fumbled the ball and Lakeville South’s Grant Moser intercepted a pass. On fourth-and-seven Lakeville South went for it and Prior Lake’s Payton Anderson intercepted it and ran it in for an 82-yard touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
With 6:43 left in the second quarter the score was Prior Lake 28, Lakeville South 7.
Corchran came up with a short run down the middle of the field. Tom Duckstad came up with some nice short runs. Lakeville South scored a touchdown on a Ducksted one-yard run. Moesser’s extra point attempt was good.
With 1:04 left in the second quarter the score was Prior Lake 28, Lakeville South 14.
Prior Lake continued to look to get the ball down the field late in the second quarter.
At halftime the score was Prior Lake 28, Lakeville South 14.
Prior Lake kicked off to start the third quarter. Lakeville South had trouble moving the ball on their first series, they punted on fourth-and-28.
Prior Lake got the ball back and looked to march down the field. Prior Lake had success running the ball. Jacob Rosonke came up with an eight yard touchdown run. Lakeville South committed a penalty and Prior Lake decided to go for a two-point conversion. The two-point conversion run by Hart was good.
With 7:08 left in the third quarter the score was Prior Lake 36, Lakeville South 14.
Lakeville South started on their own 40 yard line. They kept the ball on the ground as they looked to get another first down. They were not able to come up with a first down so Prior Lake took over.
Hitz came up with some nice runs late in the third quarter. Prior Lake did a good job of attacking the Lakeville South defense. They got the ball into the hands of Lawson Zenner. Zenner kept his feet moving as he picked up a few yards after he was tackled.
After three quarters of play the score was Prior Lake 36, Lakeville South 14.
Lucas Olson carried the ball one yard for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
With 11:56 left in the fourth quarter the score was Prior Lake 43, Lakeville South 14.
Lakeville South was not able to move the ball, they decided to punt on fourth-and-20.
Prior Lake fumbled the ball and Lakeville South’s Mosser came up with it. Ducksted ran 27 yards for a touchdown. The extra-point attempt was good.
With 8:51 left in the fourth quarter the score was Prior Lake 43, Lakeville South 21.
Prior Lake got the ball back deep in their zone as Sowder came up with a 52-yard run. Johnson intercepted the ball in the endzone.
Lakeville South fumbled the ball and Prior Lake came up with it.
In a hard fought game Prior Lake came away with the 43-21 victory over Lakeville South 21.
