MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST TOOK ON ROBBINSDALE COOPER IN REGION 6AA BOYS SOCCER

It's regional tournament time for boys’ soccer. Robbinsdale Cooper had the number eight seed and Minneapolis Southwest had the number one seed in the region. Southwest is ranked fifth in class AA in the state according to the rankings released on October 13 2009.

Both teams really tried to get a feel for each other in the first half.

With 31:00 left to go in the first half, Fidel Chenoweth scored Robbinsdale Cooper’s first unassisted goal from about 15 yards out.

Both teams continued to battle each other throughout the first half. They were both going after the ball.

With 10:01 left in the first half Shane Marshall scored a Southwest goal from about two feet away from the goal. With that goal the score was tied at one apiece.

With 36:00 left in the second half Forrest Theisen scored a goal for the Minneapolis Southwest Lakers. With 34:52 left in the second half Theisen scored another goal on a short shot. With that goal the score was Minneapolis Southwest 3 and Robbinsdale Cooper 1.

Southwest’s Garrett Powell scored a goal with 28:00 left in regulation scored a goal for making the score Minneapolis Southwest 4 and Robbinsdale Cooper 1.

Both teams played a very physical game. In the end Minneapolis Southwest was able to come away with the 4-1 victory.
