The Twin Cities media got a chance to get to know the University of Minnesota Men’s Basketball players and Tubby Smith At its annual media day event. This year’s team is ready to get going and play. Domnique Dawson who is from Minneapolis Southwest is probably going to red shirt this season according to Tubby Smith.
Coach Smith is expecting a physical season this year. Players know that they are going to have to bring something to the table and get better everyday. Smith pushes his coaches everyday to get better. Everyday before practices he asks his coaches how they are going to help his players get better and stronger. They have to have the ability to shoot the ball better than they did last year.
Smith thinks that this off season the guys did a good job of working on their games. He thinks that they know what takes now because they got a taste of post season play.
All of the players are excited to get the season underway. They will have their first chance when they are introduced to the public at Tubby’s Tip Off. It features all of the Gopher players. They will take part in a three-point contest a slam-dunk contest.
All of the Gophers spent a lot of time in the off season in the weight room. All of the guys are stronger, quicker and faster.
We will have to see how things will stack up this season for the Gopher team.
