St. John’s Military Academy took on the Eastview Lightning in the East Metro boys’ basketball showcase at St Paul Johnson.
Both of these teams played really tough defense at the start of the game. St. John’s started out playing in a zone defense. They didn’t want Eastview to get the ball in the low post. Eastview passed the ball around the three point arch as they were trying to look for the open shot.
St. John’s was able to jump out to a quick 11-9 lead with just under 12:00 left in the first half.
Eastview was looking for Carl Otto to shoot the ball. Otto put the ball up every time he touched it in the first half.

With 16:48 left to go in the second half Eastview took a 31-30 lead. That was the first time they had the lead since it was 2-0 to start the game.
Eastview played strong man-to-man defense in the second half. They wanted to slow the St. John’s team down. They wanted to contest all of the shots that they were putting up.
For St. John’s, Chris McFarlane played very aggressively. He really pushed the ball up the court and he really did a good job of handling the ball.
