OSSEO TOOK ON ANDOVER IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Osseo traveled to Andover for a boys’ basketball game. Osseo came into the game with a record
of 7-1. Andover came into the game with a record of 2-4. Osseo was ranked number six in the
state in class AAAA going into the game according to the Minneapolis Star Tribune.

Osseo won the tip and they looked to take time off the clock on their first possession of the
game. They did a good job of looking for the open shooter. Osseo looked for Terez Wayne
VanPelt for their scoring chances.

Andover had a hard time scoring to begin the game. They were not able to hit a shot in the first
few minutes of the game. Osseo was able to hop out to an early 8-0 lead with 14:45 left to go in
the first half.
 
Osseo did a good job of taking their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the
three-point line and were able to chew minutes off the clock.

VanPelt did a good job of driving to the basket. He was not afraid to take it strong to the basket
even if there were a lot of defenders in his way. He was able to blow right past them and score
the basket.
 
Andover worked hard to get to the basket. They looked for Ben Mei for their scoring
opportunities. Mei took it strong to the basket and was very vocal on both ends of the court.
 
Andover went on a run midway through the first half. Osseo was not able to get a basket for a
period of time.

Mei continued to shoot the ball well late in the half. His teammates relied on his shooting to keep
them in the game.
 
At halftime the score was Osseo 32 and Andover 23.

Andover came out the second half fired up. Osseo didn’t let up the pressure in the second half.
 
They knew that they had to keep fighting hard and keep Andover off the glass if they wanted to
come away with the victory.

Andover continued to get the ball out of the basket and run with it. They looked to score easy
baskets in transition.

With 12:45 left to go in regulation the score was Osseo 40 and Andover 33.

Andover went to a zone defense with 12:30 left to go. They looked to spread Osseo out when Osseo had the ball. Osseo passed the ball around the three-point line to burn time off the clock. That move made Andover go out and guard them from the three-point line.
 
Osseo did a good job of finding their big guys who were on the low block. They were able to get
the ball to them and make easy post-up moves to the basket.
 
Andover called a timeout with 8:44 left to go in the game. The score at that point was Osseo 43
and Andover 35.
 
Andover made a run after that timeout. Osseo was able to slow them down and take control of
the tempo again.
 
Andover made a run at Osseo late in the contest. With 3:05 left to go in the contest the score was
Osseo 47 and Andover 43.
 
Deshawn Crutch came off the bench and provided a spark for Andover. He was all over the court
and was able to step up and knock down some three-point shots late in the game.
 
Osseo was able to hold on to that lead though.

Osseo came away with the 52-49 victory over Andover.
