ST. PAUL JOHNSON TOOK ON MINNEAPOLIS SOUTHWEST HIGH SCHOOL IN A TWIN CITIES CROSSOVER SERIES FOOTBALL GAME

St. Paul Johnson took on Minneapolis Southwest High School in a football game. It was the Twin Cities crossover game. It is where the Minneapolis city conference takes on the St. Paul city conference based on where teams finished in their conference. St. Paul Johnson came into the game with a record of 4-3 overall and a conference record of 4-1. Southwest also came into the game with a record of 4-3 and a conference record of 4-1.

Southwest kicked off to Johnson to start the game. Johnson got the ball on their 27 yard line. Johnson started off on a running series. They looked to keep the ball on the ground for the most part. Keng Xion ran for 71 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 10:50 left in the first quarter the score was Johnson 7 and Southwest 0.

Johnson kicked off to Southwest after the touchdown. Southwest got the ball into the hands of Trayvon McKinney. He was able to pick up a few yards and also was able to get some big first downs. Southwest fumbled the ball on the 5 yard line and Johnson recovered.

Johnson looked to keep the ball on the ground. Johnson's Doug Siedschlag was able to slip through the Southwest defenders and pick up some needed yards. But it was not enough though because they had to punt the ball to Southwest.

Southwest looked to get the ball into the hands of Dantavian Sears. Dantavian Sears was all over the field. He was able to get way from the defenders. Southwest was not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball back to Johnson.

Johnson started a drive on their 5 yard line. The Southwest defense stepped up big and was able to slow down the Johnson offense. Southwest got the ball back on downs.

Southwest looked to get the ball down the field as quick as possible.

Southwest called a timeout with 22.1 seconds left in the first quarter.

At the end of the first quarter the score was Johnson 7 and Southwest 0.

Southwest got the ball to start the second quarter. Maurice Alexander scored a touchdown on a short two yard run. The extra point attempt was good.

With 11:51 in the second quarter the score was tied at 7.

Southwest kicked off after the touchdown. Johnson kept the running attack alive in the second quarter as they started off each series running the ball. Johnson tried some trick plays and were able to gain some small yards. Johnson had to punt the ball back to Southwest.

Southwest got the ball on the 37 yard line. Southwest had trouble picking up yards as they committed a few violations in a row. They had to punt the ball to Johnson.

Johnson was not able to get into a running grove and the Southwest defense was able to slow down the Johnson offense. Joe Segelstrom picked up a big reception and was a first down. Johnson was not able to convert on fourth down and that gave the ball back to Southwest.

Southwest got the ball back and got it into the hands of Dantavian Sears. He was able to pick up a first down.

Southwest called a timeout with 1:17 left in the second quarter.

DeAnthony McKinley got a first down for Southwest. On the next play Southwest was picked off.

At halftime the score was tied at 7.

Johnson kicked off to Southwest to start the third quarter. Southwest started with the ball on their 15 yard line. Trayvon McKinney got the ball from the get go as Southwest offense looked to pick up some major yardage early on.

Southwest was not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball to Johnson.

Johnson got the ball back on offense. They got the ball on the 16 yard line. Johnson threatened to score midway through the third quarter. They attempted a 22 yard field goal but were unsuccessful.

Southwest got the ball back after the failed field goal attempt. Southwest was not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball to Johnson. Johnson fumbled the ball on the kickoff and Jimmy Roth for Southwest recovered it to give them the ball back.

Southwest got the ball on the 35 yard line after the Jimmy Roth recovery of the punt. Camden Knuckles picked up a big reception that brought the ball to the nine yard line. Camden Knuckles got a 25 yard pass for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:19 left in the third quarter the score was Southwest 14 and Johnson 7.

Southwest kicked off after the touchdown. Johnson was not able to move the ball on offense and they had to punt the ball to Southwest.

Trayvon McKinney ran 97 yards for Southwest and he coughed it up on the four yard line and but recovered it.

At the end of the fourth quarter the score was Southwest 14 and Johnson 7.

Southwest got the ball on the ball on the four yard line to start the fourth quarter. DeAnthony McKinley scored a touchdown on a four yard run. The extra point attempt was no good.

With 11:15 left in the fourth quarter the score was Southwest 20 and Johnson 7.

Southwest kicked off after the touchdown. Johnson's Tra Griffin picked up 40 yards on a nice run. That moved the chains down the field. Tra Griffin continued to pound the ball down the field. Johnson threatened to score late in the quarter.

Southwest took a timeout with 6:41 left in the fourth quarter.
John Plaschko for Johnson caught a pass in the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 6:35 left in regulation the score was Southwest 20 and Johnson 14.

Trayvon McKinney picked up some good yards for Southwest. Southwest couldn't pick up a first down and they had to punt it back to Johnson.

Johnson turned the ball over with 1:53 left in regulation. That gave Southwest the ball for the last series of the game. 

Johnson called a timeout with 1:15 left in the game.

Southwest came away with the 20-14 victory over Johnson. I though that both teams played well but in the end Southwest was able to hold their ground and come up with some big stops and get the ball into the end zone.
