STEVEN'S SPORTS REPORT COVERS THE MEN'S AND WOMEN'S UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA BASKETBALL MEDIA DAY EVENT AT THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA

I was on hand on Thursday October 13, 2011 for the University of Minnesota for the men's and women's basketball media day event at Williams Arena.

First off the Gopher women basketball team  representatives were on hand to talk about the upcomming women's basketball season. I had a chance to sit in on the Pam Bortonwomen's basketball media day session. Along with Coach Borton, KiaraBuford and Jackie Voigt who all met the media.

After that men's head basketball coach Tubby Smith came in and addressed the media.After coach Smith was done the players stationed out on the basketball floor. I was able to talk to each one of them about the upcoming season.

I was able to talk to basketball players Maurice Walker, Kendal Shell, Andre Ingram, Elliot Eliason, Ralph Sampson III, Oto Osenieks, Rodney Maurice Williams, Julian Welch , Austin Hollins, Joe Coleman , Andre Hollins, Chip Armelin, Chris Halvorsen, Trevor Mbakwe and assistant coach Sal Smith about the upcoming season.

I thought that the event went very well. I think that this team has a lot of confidence early on and the coaching staff has been pleased with what they have seen so far in off-season workouts.
