Maranatha Christian Academy went up against Ada-Borup in the Class A state championship game.
Maranatha started in zone defense. They didn’t want Ada-Borup to take easy baskets.
The score went back and forth early.
Ada-Borup did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and scoring on layups.
There was a media timeout with 14:22 left in the first half. The score was Ada-Borup 9, Maranatha 5.
Ada-Borup came up with fast break layups. Miki Lee did a good job of getting her teammates the ball where they could shoot it.
Ada-Borup’s Miki Lee, Elizabeth Birkemeyer, Haley Poehler and Lexi Merkens all came up with layups and mid-range jump shots.
Maranatha struggled to shoot the ball throughout the first half. Ada-Borup did a good job of controlling the tempo.
There was a media timeout with 9:54 left in the first half. The score was Ada-Borup 24, Maranatha 10.
Ada-Borup was able to slow down the Maranatha throughout the first half.
There was a media timeout with seven minutes left in the first half. The score was Ada-Borup 28, Maranatha 13.
Ada-Borup looked to take time off the clock late in the first half.
There was a media timeout with 3:19 left in the first half. The score was Ada-Borup 36, Maranatha 22.
Ada-Borup kept attacking the basket late in the first half. Maranatha stepped up their shooting abilities as they were able to come up with layups late.
At halftime the score was Ada-Borup 40, Maranatha 30.
As the second half got underway Ada-Borup continued to push the ball down the floor and come up with big shots. Also Miki Lee and Birkemeyer were able to get to the basket and hit shots.
There was a media timeout with 10:05 left in regulation. The score was Ada-Borup 55, Maranatha 40.
Ada-Borup was too much for Maranatha. Maranatha had a difficult time scoring baskets throughout the game.
Ada-Borup came away with the 82-65 victory over Maranatha.
With that win Ada-Borup won the 2015 MSHSL State Class A State Championship game.
