ADA-BORUP WENT UP AGAINST LYLE PACELLI IN A CLASS A STATE SEMIFINALS

Ada-Borup went up against Lyle/Pacelli in the girls’ state Class A state semifinals at Williams Arena.

Ada-Borup looked to set the tempo early as they raced down the floor. They looked to score baskets in transition.

LP looked to push the ball down the floor and came up with layups.

There were several ties and lead changes throughout the first half.

Ada-Borup’s Miki Lee, Lexi Merkens, Lexi Nelson and Haley Poehler all came up with big shots in the first half. They also did a good job of shutting down the defense.

Both teams took a lot of time off the clock in the first half.

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half. The defensive pressure made it difficult for the other team to get open looks at the basket.

There was a media timeout with 3:43 left in the first half. The score was LP 21, Ada-Borup 25.

LP pushed the ball down the floor and was able to come up with layups and jump shots.

At halftime the score was LP 28, Ada-Borup 25.

As the second half got underway the game remained close. LP continued to get the ball into the hands of Brook Walter and Sarah Holtz.

LP came up was able to get the ball down the floor and come up with huge shots. The Ada-Borup defense had a hard time slowing down Brooke Walter in the second half.

The game came down to the wire. Neither team went on a run late in the game.

At the final media timeout with 3:23 left in regulation the score was LP 50, Ada-Borup 49.

Walter and Holtz continued to come up with big baskets late in the game.  

Ada-Borup’s Miki Lee hit a mid-range jump shot to win the game.

Ada-Borup came away with the 54-52 victory over LP.

The leading scorers for LP were Walter with 24 points and Holtz with 16 points.

The leading scorers for Ada-Borup were Poehler with 17 points, and Lee with 15 points.
