Central Minnesota Christian and Goodhue squared off in a boys’ basketball state semifinal basketball game.
The score went back and forth to start the game. Neither team gave up easy baskets.
Goodhue’s Ben Opsahl was able to make mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
Central Minnesota Christian pushed the ball down the floor and was able to make layups in transition.
There was a media timeout with 6:42 left in the first half. The score was Goodhue 18, Central Minnesota Christian 9.
The Goodhue defense made it difficult for Central Minnesota Christian to come up with open looks at the basket.
Goodhue’s Jacob McNamara and Jacob Pasch both were able to step up and knock down huge baskets late in the first half.
At halftime the score was Goodhue 26, Central Minnesota Christian 20.
As the second half got underway Goodhue continued to push the ball down the floor and make layups in transition.
There was a media timeout with 14:58 left in regulation. The score was Goodhue 26, Central Minnesota Christian 24.
Neither team went on a run in the second half. The game was tight throughout.
There was a media timeout with 10:40 left in regulation. The score was Goodhue 30, Central Minnesota Christian 26.
The game was very evenly played. Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls and went after rebounds.
The game came down to the wire and Goodhue came away with the 41-38 victory over Central Minnesota Christian.
