On March 11 Minneapolis North and Red Lake squared off in the Class A state semifinals of the Minnesota State High League state tournament.
North pushed the ball down the floor and was able to get everyone involved in the offense.
North got out to a quick 9-0 lead with 16:28 left in the first half, Red Lake called its first timeout.
North continued to push the ball down the floor and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
There was a media timeout with 14:27 left in the first half. The score was North 15, Red Lake 6.
Red Lake went to a zone defense as they looked to spread North out on the offensive end.
There was a media timeout with 12:49 left in the first half. The score was North 19, Red Lake 11.
Red Lake was able to come up with steals and turn them into layups midway through the first half.
North called a timeout with 11:01 left in the first half. The score was North 25, Red Lake 15.
Red Lake used a full court press as they looked to come up with steals and get layups off of the steals.
North continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
At halftime the score was North 49, Red Lake 37.
As the second half got underway North continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
North looked to get the ball into the hands of Jamil Jackson. He did a good job of getting to the basket and making mid-range jump shots and layups.
Jackson also came up with slam dunks as he was able to beat his man off the dribble.
There was a media timeout with 13:39 left in regulation. The score was North 60, Red Lake 45.
North continued to push the ball down the floor and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the second half.
There was a media timeout with 3:59 left in regulation. The score was North 74, Red Lake 55.
North pushed the ball down the floor late as they kept on coming up with layups and mid-range jump shots.
Red Lake wasn’t able to make shots down the stretch.
North came away with the 82-61 victory over Red Lake.
