On March 12 Lakeville North squared off against Hopkins in the Class 4A state boys’ basketball finals.
Hopkins looked to move the ball down the floor well as they looked to score layups in transition.
Lakeville North was able to get everyone the ball on the offensive end. They took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the 3-point line and got everyone involved in the offense.
Lakeville North was able to get the ball into the hands of Nick Fossey. Fossey was able to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups as well.
Lakeville North was able to come up with stops on the defensive end.
Neither team went on a run in the first half.
At halftime the score was tied at 23.
As the second half got underway Hopkins continued to push the ball down the floor and score layups in transition.
The score went back and forth once again early in the second half. There were several ties. Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls.
Hopkins' Amir Coffey came up with huge layups in the second half.
Lakeville North struggled to shoot the ball in the second half. Hopkins took advantage of that and was able to come up with layups off of the Lakeville North’s misses.
Hopkins came away with the 64-55 victory over Lakeville North.
With that victory Hopkins won the 2016 MSHSL state Class 4A state title.
