KOCH NAMED FIRST-TEAM ALL-MVC SCHOLAR-ATHLETE

University of Northern Iowa junior forward Adam Koch was honored today by being named first team MVC Scholar-Athlete, the league office announced today. Voting for the team was done by the 10 MVC sports information directors.

Koch, a first-team All-Missouri Valley Conference selection this year, leads UNI in scoring at 11.9 points per game, while also averaging 5.1 rebounds per contest. He holds a 3.43 cumulative grade point average in biology. Koch was also a first-team academic-all district selection this year.

The criteria for the Missouri Valley Conference Scholar-Athlete Team voting parallels the CoSIDA (College Sports Information Directors of America) standards for ESPN the Magazine Academic All-America voting. Nominees must be starters or important reserves with at least a 3.00 cumulative grade-point average (4.0 scale). Student-athletes must have reached sophomore athletic and academic standing at their institution (true freshmen and red shirt freshmen were not eligible) and must have completed at least one full academic year at their institution.
