MINNESOTA STATE UNIVERSITY MANKATO TOOK ON FORT LEWIS COLLEGE IN NCAA REGIONAL ACTION

Minnesota State University of Mankato took on Fort Lewis in the NCAA Division 2 Central Regional final at MSU Mankato.

Both of these teams came out firing on all cylinders. Both teams looked to push the ball up the court in transition. Mankato started the game playing tough man to man defense. They were really aggressive throughout the first half.


Even though Mankato was playing tough defense Fort Luis was able to make some quick shots to open the game up. Fort Lewis jumped out to a quick 10-4 lead in the first four minutes of play.


Fort Lewis’s Erin Kerr came out ready to play she really got after it in the early going on the game. She made nice picks and had a couple of nice baskets early in the game.


MSU used a lot of motion in their offense so far. The game got close mid way through the first half, each team traded baskets.

Alison Rosel really played strong in the first half for Fort Lewis. She really went at the Minnesota State players. She was able to get her shot going in the first half. She really had the hot hand in the first half.


At half time the score was Minnesota State University Mankato 36 and Fort Luis 30. For Minnesota State University Mankato the leading scorers at half time were Lauren Barber 8 and Flecia Foster 7 points. For Fort Lewis Alison Rosel has put on a great performance so far as she had 19 points at half time.


Both teams came out playing really aggressive in the second half. Minnesota State University Mankato has able to go on a run to open the second half. They had a 42-34 lead with 18:23 in the second half when Fort Lewis burned a time out to try to slow Minnesota State University Mankato.


Minnesota State University Mankato continued to look to push the ball up the court early in the second half. They were able to make baskets in transition.


Fort Lewis’s Alison Rosel continues to impress the crowd as she is putting up really good championship numbers in this game. She is one of the vocal leaders on the court. She kept her teammates motivated on the court. She was shouting encouraging words to her teammates the whole game.


Fort Lewis has used a lot of zone defense in this game. They play both a match up zone and a 3-2 zone.


With 7:59 left to go in regulation the score was Minnesota State University Mankato 53 and Fort Lewis 38.

Both teams battled throughout the second half and Minnesota State University was able to come away with 72-61 victory. They will face Michigan Tech in the NCAA Division 3 Elite Eight.


For Fort Lewis Alison Ross was there leading scorer she finished with a total of 29 points. For Minnesota State Mankato Joanne Noreen was there leading scorer with a total of 15 points.
