ST MICHEAL COMES FROM BEHIND AND BEATS MINNEAPOLIS NORTH FOR THE MINNESOTA STATE GIRLS CLASS AAA TITLE



Minneapolis North took on St Michael Albertville for the AAA girl’s state championship. North is a young team. They have 5 8th graders on their team. North started the game playing a strong zone defense. Allina Star was able to come up with some nice shots to begin the game. North came out strong. They were able to get out and really jump on the St Michael Albertville team. They got a 13-2 lead with 12:40 in the first half.

North was able to keep the pressure on St Michael Albertville the whole first half. North played very aggressively in the first half. They had their hands up and they were talking on the defensive end.

St Michael Albertville wanted to keep up with this Minneapolis North team. North was a quicker team. They were just beating St Michael Albertville to different sports on the floor.
St Michael Alvertville went on a run late in the first half.

At half time the score was Minneapolis North 28 and St Michael-Albertville 24.

For Minneapolis North the leading scorer for Briana Edwards she had 13 points. For St Michael-Albertville they were led in by Carly Rothstein with 10 points.

St Michael Albertville came out on fire to open the second half. North will have to have to step up on the defensive end. North didn’t panic on the offense end.

St Michael Albertville was able to get the lead mid way in the second half. North’s youth showed a little big in the second half I thought. Some of the North players didn’t know how to respond in certain stations.
North and St Michael Albertville traded baskets. These teams went up and down the court.
St Micheal Albertville was able to come from behind and they got the 63-50 victory.

For St Michael Albertville the leading scorers were Brittani Wiese with 19 points and Courtney Barthel with 12 points.

For Minneapolis North Briana Edwards had a fantastic game for the Polars she ended with 23 points.
