Serena Williams beat Venus Williams 7-6 (3), 6-2 in the Wimbledon women's final Saturday, capturing her third career title at the All England Club and thwarting her sister's bid to win her sixth.

"I'm really honored," Serena said in the championship ceremony. "I feel really blessed to be out here."

Serena took the opening set on a tiebreak, as Venus dropped her first set in 36 consecutive Wimbledon sets dating to the third round of the 2007 championships.

"She played the best tennis today," Venus said. "So congratulations."

With the win, Serena broke a head-to-head career tie with Venus, making it 11-10. It also gave Serena her 11th grand slam title.

"I don't think the loss has set in yet," Venus said. "I'm still smiling."
