IN THE CLASS AA STATE BASEBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME ROCORI TOOK ON DELANO IN THE CLASS AA STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Delano took on Rocori in the Class AA state championship. The starting pitcher for Delano was Matt Arens.

Derek Lieser lead off Rocori with a chopper to the shortstop and was thrown out at first base. Zach Hinkemeyer struck out swinging. Eric Loxtercamp hit a bouncer to left field for a double. Matt Butala hit a bouncer to second base and was thrown out at first base.

The starting pitcher for Rocori was Blaine Athmann. Leading off for Delano was Jake Raskob. He drilled a line drive to the second baseman who caught the ball for the out. Joe Silhacek hit a bouncer to the shortstop who threw him out at first base. Adam Ernst drilled a bouncer out to left center field and got a stand up double. Trevor Jaunich hit a bouncer to the second baseman who threw him out at first base.

Scott Willenbring bounced out to the third baseman who threw him out at first base. Ben Rausch bounced to the pitcher who was thrown out at first base. Eric Vigil hit a bouncer to the third baseman and was thrown out at first base.

For Delano in the bottom of the second inning Justin Polak bounced a chopper to the third baseman and was safe at first base. Tyler Wolfe popped out to the first baseman. Nic Vatnsdal was thrown out in a double play.

In the top of the third inning Shane Rausch bounced a hopper to third base and was thrown out at first base. Michael Holbrook bunted and reached first base. Derek Lieser flew out to left field. Zach Hinkermyer grounded out to the short stop.

In the bottom of the third inning Beau Hartneck bounced out to the pitcher who threw him out at first base. John Max bounced out third to first. Jake Raskob hit a line drive to the left fielder for a single. Jake Raskob stole second base. Joe Silhacek walked. Adam Ernst bounced out to second base and was thrown out at first base.

After three innings of play the score was tied at 0.

To begin the fourth inning Erik Virgil singled Mathias Butala singled. Scott Willenbeing hit a bouncer to center field. Ben Rausch hit a bouncer to the pitcher. The pitcher threw out the lead runner at third. Eric Vigil hit a line drive to the center fielder for the final out of the inning.

Trrevor Jaunich bounced out for the first out. Justin Polk flew out to the right fielder for the second out of the inning. Tyler Wolfe hit a single to left field. Nick Vatnsdal bounced out to the short stop.

After four innings the score was tied at 0.

To lead off the fifth inning Shane Rausch hit a bouncer to the third baseman who threw him out at first base. Micheal Holbrook reached on an error. Micheal Holbrook stole second base. Derek Lieser grounded out to first base. Micheal Holbrook scored on a passed ball. Zach Hinkermyer reached on an error. Zach Hinkermyer reach second on a balk. Eric Loxtercamp was hit by the pitch. Mathias Butala was thrown out by the second baseman.

In the bottom of the fifth inning Beau Hartneck reached first base on an error. John Maxx bunted and was thrown out at first base. Jake Raskob hit a liner to the first baseman. Joe Silhacek reached first on an error on the shortstop. Adam Ernst walked to load the bases. Trevor Jaunich hit a bouncer and the third baseman stepped on the base to retire the runner on third base.

After five innings the score was Rocori 1 and Delano 0.

In the top of the sixth inning Scott Willenbring flew out to the second baseman. Ben Rausch walked. Eric Vigil flew out to the catcher. Ben Rausch was caught stealing.

In the bottom of the sixth inning Justin Polak grounded to the second baseman and was thrown out at first base. Tyler Wolfe bounced out to the shortstop and was thrown out at first base. Nick Vatnsdal bounced out to the pitcher and was thrown out at first base.

In the top of the seventh inning Shane Rausch popped out to first baseman in foul ground territory. Micheal Holbrook popped out to the third baseman. Drek Liesr hit a chopper to left field. Zach Hinkemeyer got a single. Drek Liesr reached third on the play. Drek Liesr stole second base. Eric Loxercamp hit a single to center field and scored two runs. Eric Loxercamp stole second base. Mathias Mutala flew out.

In the bottom of the seventh inning Beau Hartneck got hit to centerfield for a single. John Max flew out to right field. Jake Raskomb grounded into a double play to end the game. Recori won the game by the final of 3-0.

After the game I was able to talk to Rocori Cold Spring’s Michael Holbrook, Zach Hinkemeyer, Eric Loxtercamp and head coach Jeff Lllies about the championship game.
