On Feb. 7 Lakeville South squared off against Prior Lake in a boys basketball game. Both teams looked to move the ball quickly down the floor early in the contest.
Lakeville South’s Jack Sorenson looked to get his shot going. He was not afraid to shoot the ball from the elbow.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Lakeville South’s Cody Kairis was all over the floor. He was not afraid to shoot a mid-range jump shot.
Prior Lake’s Tevin Grant found Connor Bair who came up with some good shots from the elbow.
Lakeville South moved the ball around the three-point line trying to get into an offensive rhythm.
Lakeville South looked to trap and get turnovers on the trap.
There were several ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.
The pace of the game slowed down late in the half. Neither team hit shots for a period of time.
The score at halftime was Prior Lake 37 Lakeville South 32.
As the second half got underway Prior Lake continued to push the ball down the floor and looked to get the ball inside to Bair.
Lakeville South’s Arfon Janetkhan got hot from behind the three-point line. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he felt comfortable shooting it.
Lakeville South’s Sorenson -- who is a freshman -- was all over the floor. He stepped up and knocked down both jump shots and layups.
Sorenson didn’t think he had a good shot he would pass it to his teammate Kairis who also got hot in the second half.
Kairis did a good job of hitting jump shots in the lane.
Lakeville South was able to get rebounds on the defensive end. They were able to convert those defensive rebounds into baskets on the offensive end.
The score continued to go back and forth in the second half.
Prior Lake’s Jason Faul was not afraid to drive to the basket and was also not afraid of contact. His teammate Jon Sobaski stepped up and knocked down some deep three-point shots in the second half.
Lakeville South continued to trap and look for turnovers throughout the second half.
The score went back and forth in the final minute of the game. Sorenson hit a jumper at the buzzer for a Lakeville South 76-74 come from behind victory over Prior Lake.
The leading scorers for Prior Lake were Bair with 25, Sobaski 19, Heidecker 12 Faul 11.
Lakeville South was lead in scoring by Kairis with 20 points, and Sorenson with 17 points.
