PACT and Bethany Academy squared off in a boys basketball game on Feb. 15. PACT looked to push the ball down the floor in transition. They did a good job of passing the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock.
PACT did a good job of setting the tempo early. They were patient on the offensive end as they swung the ball around the three-point line to take time off the clock.
Bethany Academy’s Sam Hagen came up with layups that kept the game close.
Both teams did a good job of attacking the basket.
Bethany Academy’s Peter Sheehan got hot late in the first half when he made back-to-back layups. His teammates did a good job of feeding him the ball in spots where he could make his shots.
It took Bethany Academy awhile to get in to the scoring column but they finally came to life late in the first half. That was due to Seth Cupersmith getting hot as he was able to hit his mid-range jump shots.
Defense played a big role for both teams in the first half as the defense made it hard for each team to get shots.
Bethany Academy came out slow but started to look confident in their shot selection as the first half went on.
At halftime the score was PACT 21, Bethany Academy 20.
Sheehan continued to attack the basket against the zone defense.
Both teams took a lot of time off the clock as they passed the ball around the three-point line. Both teams opened the second half in a zone defense.
PACT’s Danny Mooers came up with some nice layups that kept his team in the game. Mooers wasn’t afraid to drive to the basket past his defenders.
Bethany tried to run set plays against the PACT zone defense. They had a lot of movement on the offensive end. Bethany was able to attack the zone and get open shots.
There were several ties and lead changes throughout the second half.
Hagen continued to make his shots in the second half. Both teams played relaxed and attacked the basket.
Neither team committed a ton of fouls.
PACT’s Daniel Nelson found his mid-range jump shot throughout the game. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball so he could get the offense going.
Bethany went to a full court man-to-man defense with just under 6:30 left in regulation. They looked
to trap and turn PACT over. That made it difficult for the PACT guards to bring the ball down the floor.
PACT kept on attacking the basket late and they kept looking to get the ball into the hands of Mooers and Nelson. They kept on hitting shots they put up.
The game was very competitive. Neither team went on a huge run. There were several ties and lead changes in the game.
Bethany Academy came away with the 44-43 victory over PACT Charter.
The leading scorers for PACT Charter were Nelson with 12 and Mooers with 11 points. The leading scorer for Bethany Academy was Cupersmith with 12.
