LAKEVILLE SOUTH TOOK ON ROSEMOUNT IN THE QUARTERFINAL IN THE MINNESOTA STATE HIGH SCHOOL LEAGUE STATE TOURNAMENT


Lakeville South took on Rosemount in a state class AAAAA quarterfinal football game at St Paul Central high school.


Lakeville South kicked off to Rosemount. Rosemount looked to keep the ball on the ground. They were not able to get a first down and they had to kick the ball to Lakeville South.


Lakeville South got the ball near midfield. Mitchell Lendiner the quarterback was able to get the ball into the hands of the running backs on the first drive of the game.


Matt Heller came up with a nice catch to set up Lakeville South a first down. Lakeville South’s DJ Hiller found the end zone with 4:51 left to go in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was good.


Rosemount’s Tony found the end zone on a 90-yard touchdown run. The score with 4:33 left to go in the quarter to go the score was tied


Rosemount’s Andrew Hausmann scored a 15 yard touchdown run with 8:35 left in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was good. With that touchdown the sore was Rosemount 14 and Lakeville South 7.


Lakeville South got the ball back after the touchdown. They were able to get a first down on a short drive. Lakeville South was able to move the ball well throughout the first half. There were offsetting penalties. David Morgan for Rosemount picked off the Lakeville South pass and that gave Rosemount the ball back. Rosemount was not able to get a first down and they had to punt the ball back to Lakeville South.


Lakeville South’s D.J. Hiller came up with a few good plays throughout the first half. He knew that path that he wanted to go with the ball and was determined to go with it.


With 53.8 seconds left to go in the half Lakeville South’s Trent Bertamus found the end zone for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. That made the score tied at 14.


Rosemount got the ball back after the touchdown and they wanted to attack the end zone. Rosemont’s David Morgan found the end zone on a touchdown reception with 24.2 seconds to go. The extra point attempt was good.


At halftime the score was Rosemount 21 and Lakeville South 14.


Lakeville South received the ball to begin the third quarter. They kept the ball on the ground to begin the third quarter. Rosemount was able to get an interception. They got the ball back near midfield.


Rosemount looked to get ball into the end zone. They were able to pound the ball up the field throughout the whole game. Rosemount fumbled the ball on the two-yard line and Lakeville South came away with the ball.


At the end of the third quarter the score was Rosemount 21 and Lakeville South 14.


Lakeville South got the ball to begin the fourth quarter. They looked to get the ball in the air and get a first down. Lakeville South looked to score midway through the fourth quarter. They pounded the ball down the field. Lakeville South was not able to convert on fourth down and they turned the ball over on downs.


Rosemount fumbled the ball and was turned over to Lakeville South. On the next play Lakeville South fumbled the ball back to Rosemount.


Lakeville South tried to put together a run to end the game but was unsuccessful. Rosemount was able to come away with the 24-14 victory over Lakeville South.


I was able to interview Rosemount’s head coach Jeff Erdmann. I was also able to talk to Rosemount players David Morgan, and Logan Lindberg about the game.
