Rochester Lourdes took on Albany in the class AAA semifinal state football game at the Metrodome.
Rochester got the ball near midfield. They started the game running the ball. They looked to get the ball into the hands of their running back hands. Adam Lentz ran a 44 yard touchdown run with 10:00 left to go in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
With 10:00 left to go in the first quarter the score was Rochester Lourdes 7 and Albany 0.
Albany got the ball after the Rochester touchdown. Albany was not able to convert on downs and they had to punt the ball to Rochester.
Rochester Lourdes kept the ball on the ground. They looked to get the ball into the hands of Adam Lentz. Adam was very quick on his feet. He was able to escape his defenders.
Albany got the ball back and they were off to the races. They kept the ball on the ground as they wanted to run with it. Albany’s Dlyan Shay found the end zone for a 53-yard touchdown catch. The extra point attempt was good. With 2:29 left to go in the first quarter the score was tied at 7.
Rochester got the ball back after the touchdown. They were not able to convert on offense and they had to punt the ball back to Albany.
At the end of the first quarter the score was Rochester Lourdes 7 and Albany 7.
Albany got the ball to begin the second quarter. Neither team was able to convert on third downs to begin the second quarter. They both had to punt to each other.
Albany got the ball back and they kept pounding the ball down the middle of the field. Albany was not able to convert and they had to punt the ball back to Rochester.
Rochester Lourdes Adam Lentz went on an 84 yard touchdown run with 8:15 left to go in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was no good.
With 8:15 left to go in the second quarter the score was Rochester Lourdes 13 and Albany 7.
Albany got the ball back after the Rochester Lourdes touchdown. Albany had to punt the ball back to Rochester Lourdes because they were not able to convert on third down.
Rochester Lourdes got the ball back after Albany was not able to convert. This went back and forth late in the quarter.
Rochester Lourdes had the ball and they were able to put a drive together late in the quarter.
Rochester Lourdes Alex Kapraun attempted a 23 yard field goal and made it as time expired to end the half.
In a first half that went back and forth at halftime the score was Rochester Lourdes 16 and Albany 7.
Albany got the ball to start the third quarter. Albany was not able to convert on third down and they had to punt the ball back to Rochester Lourdes.
Rochester Lourdes continued to run the ball. They looked to pound the ball out throughout the third quarter.
Both teams went back and forth in the third quarter. At the end of three quarters of play the score was Rochester Lourdes 16 and Albany 7.
Rochester Lourdes got the ball to start off the fourth quarter. Sean Griffin came up with a 10 yard touchdown catch. The two point conversion failed.
With 11:54 left to go the score was Rochester Lourdes 22 and Albany 7.
Albany got the ball back after the Rochester Lourdes touchdown. Albany was not able to convert and they turned the ball over to the Rochester Lourdes again
The Rochester Lourdes got the ball back and they looked to score again late in the game.
In a game where the special teams play stood out by both teams Rochester Lourdes was able to come away with the 22-7 victory over Albany.
