MINNETONKA TOOK ON ORONO IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE
Minnetonka took on Orono in the Minnetonka boys’ basketball fall league. Minnetonka opened the game on a run. Orono was not able to score a basket from the beginning of the game.
Minnetonka did a good job of pushing the ball up the court and getting baskets in transition. On the defensive end they did a good job of pressuring Orono and forcing them to make bad shots.
Minnetonka continued to make shots throughout the first half. Orono used a full court press in the first half. They also looked to trap Minnetonka and force them to the corners. Minnetonka looked to keep the ball out of the corners.
Minnetonka was much quicker than Orono. They were able to beat Orono to spots on the floor. Orono didn’t get down on themselves they kept on fighting hard. I thought that both teams played aggressively in the first half.
Orono went on a run midway through the first half. They were able to cut their deficit to one point at 25-24 with 3:22 left in the first half.
In the first half Minnetonka started out strong and then Orono went on a run late in the half. At halftime the score was Orono 27 and Minnetonka 25.
As the second half got underway Orono went on a run. They took it to Minnetonka. All of their shots were going in. Minnetonka came off halftime flat. They couldn’t get into their shooting rhythm.
Minnetonka went to a zone defense. Orono was able to shoot the gaps in the zone and make some uncontested shots at the basket and make them.
In a game that saw Minnetonka jump out to a big lead and then Orono fought back and took the lead and never gave it up. Orono was able to come away with the 51-46 victory over Minnetonka.
