MINNEAPOLIS DE LaSALLE TOOK ON EDEN PRAIRIE IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

The Minneapolis De LaSalle Islanders took on the Eden Prairie Eagles in a boys' basketball game. DeLaSalle came into the game with a record of 8-2 and were ranked #8 in class AAA in the Minneapolis Star Tribune state poll. Eden Prairie came into the game with a record of 9-2 and were ranked #7 in class AAAA Star Tribune state poll.

Eden Prairie won the tip. De LaSalle came out in their man-to-man defense. They wanted to apply as much pressure to Eden Prairie as they could.

Eden Prairie took their time on the offensive end. They looked to get the ball to the low post. Jordan Peterson was on the block and when he got the ball. He took it hard to the basket.

Abrian Carpenter entered the game and looked to get the Eden Prairie offense going. He passed the ball around to his teammates on the offensive end.

The score went back and forth for a period of time in the first half. Neither team went on a run.

De LaSalle looked to push the ball down the court every chance that they could. They looked to get easy baskets in transition. Eden Prairie made it hard for them to get wide open looks at the basket.

Jarvis Johnson for De LaSalle went to the basket hard. His teammates knew where he was on the court and they got him the ball where he was able to hit shots.

The pace was frantic as both teams took quick shots.

At halftime the score was De LaSalle 28 and Eden Prairie 25.

De LaSalle continued to look inside and get Reid Travis the ball on the low block. When Travis was on the block he was able to post his man up and use a drop step to get to the basket.

Eden Prairie went to a full court press and they were able to frustrate De LaSalle on the offensive end.

Anthony Anderson for Eden Prairie had some nice moves to the basket. He was able to blow by his defenders and make some nice baskets.

Eden Prairie went on a run midway through the second half. De LaSalle called a timeout with 11:55 left in regulation. The score was Eden Prairie 43 and DeLaSalle 30.

Grant Shaeffer for Eden Prairie drained a long thee-point shot and kept his team in the game.

DeLaSalle didn't get frustrated they kept on shooting the ball.

Eden Prairie came away with the 75-58 victory over DeLaSalle.

The leading scorers for DeLaSalle were Shawn Fitzgibbons with 20 points and Luke Scott and Reid Travis with 13 each.

The leading scorers for Eden Prairie were Andre Wallace with 21 points and Sander Mohn with 19 points.

DeLaSalle shot 19-57 from the field that included going 4-13 from behind the three-point line. They shot 16-28 from the free throw line. They brought down a total of 41 rebounds including 24 on the defensive end.

Eden Prairie shot 27-58 from the field that included going 7-13 from behind the thee-point line. They shot 14-15 from the free throw line. Eden Prairie brought down a total of 33 rebounds including 25 on the defensive end.

University of Minnesota men's basketball coach Tubby Smith was on hand to watch the game
