ST. PAUL COMO PARK TOOK ON ST. PAUL CENTRAL IN A GIRLS' BASKETBALL GAME

St. Paul Como Park traveled to St. Paul Central for a girls' basketball game. Going into the contest Como Park had a record of 5-6. Central's record was 8-5.

The St. Paul Central head coach Willie Taylor was sick and his assistant coach took his place.

Como Park started the game in a zone defense. They wanted to spread Central out.

Central looked to get the ball into the hand of Elizabeth “Betsy” Forbes MacDonald. MacDonald was all over the floor. She looked to get her teammates involved in the offense.

MacDonald made some nice passes to her teammate Dejanae Hall. Hall would make layups on the offensive end.

Neither team went on a run in the first half. The first half was close.

Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls and went for rebounds on both ends of the court.

Both teams also applied good defensive pressure.

Central went on a run to end the first half.

At halftime the score was Central 26 and Como Park 23.

Central continued to attack the basket. Como Park started out in zone defense. They were successful in the first half at making them shoot tough shots.

Central pulled way in the second half. They were able to get the ball into the hands of MacDonald. MacDonald found her shot as was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.

Central came away with the 59-40 victory over Como Park.

The leading scorers for Como Park were Alexandra Peterson with 10 points and Monica Hetzog with 7 points.

The leading scorers for Central were Lashandra Curtis with 20 points, Sade Chatman with 12 points, Elizabeth “Betsy” Forbes MacDonald 11.
