The Park Center Pirate boys' basketball team took on the Elk River Elks in a basketball game. Park Center came into the game with a record of 5-5 and Elk River had a record of 7-4.
Park Center looked to get the ball into the hands of guard Quinton Lee Hooker. Hooker took the ball hard to the basket and made shots.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run in the first half.
Park Center used a full court press and they looked to get steals and bring the ball quickly to the other end. They scored on quick shots from all over the court.
Sha-Ron Holley-Lewis took good shots for Park Center. He knew where his teammates were on the floor. If he was not open he would get the ball into the hands of one of his teammates.
The score went back and forth throughout the first half.
At halftime the score was Elk River 37 and Park Canter 36.
Isaiah McKay found his shot for Park Center. His teammates knew where he was on the floor and got him the ball. He shot the ball well.
Clay Elrod was all over the court for Elk River. He was able to shoot the ball from anywhere on the court.
Hooker went after loose balls. He often landed on the ground after going for loose balls.
The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Neither team was really able to go on a run.
Park Center called a timeout with 7:28 left in regulation. The score was Park Center 60 and Elk River 56.
Park Center passed the ball around the three-point line as they looked to take as much time off the clock as they could.
In a game that was close throughout. Park Center came way with the 82-71 victory over Elk River
Quinton Lee Hooker scored his1,000 point during the game.
I thought it was a nice gesture that the concession stand personnel were waring tee shirts with Jack Jablonski on them. Jablonski is the high school student hockey player who is at the hospital recovering from getting checked. Some of the students from both teams were also waring tee shirts.
The leading scorers for Elk River were Clay Elrod with 21 points, Tucker Morrell with 12 points, and Porter Morrell with 12 points.
The leading scorers for Park Center were Trayton Daniles with 22 points, Quinton Lee Hooker with 21 points and Isaiah McKay with 17 points.
