Wayzata also got after the ball. The game was physical as neither team gave up easy looks at the goal.

Hopkins goalkeeper Gretchen Patterson came up with some big saves throughout the first half.
Wayzata did a good job of attacking the net.
With 10:50 left in the first half Wayzata’s Bailee Hyde found the back of the net for a goal with a header.

Both teams were able to keep up with each other on the field as neither team was quicker than the other.
Hopkins did a good job of subbing their players in and out of the game as they looked to get everyone fresh throughout. Wayzata mostly used their starters throughout the first half.
At halftime the score was Wayzata 1, Hopkins 0.
Hopkins was able to keep the ball in their own zone as they looked to score a goal. They did just that with 35:22 Hopkins’ Rachael St. Clair found the back end of the net as she scored a goal.
With that goal that tied the game 1.
Both teams continued to move the ball down the field. The game was well played throughout.
Patterson came up with some huge saves with under a minute to go in regulation.
The game was tied at 1 after regulation. The game went into a 10-minute sudden-death overtime period.
As the overtime period got underway. Both teams continued to move the ball down the field well.
Neither team scored a goal in the first overtime period. So they went to a second 10-minute overtime period.
Hopkins’ Corbin Boyd scored a goal with 6:51 left in the second overtime period to win the game.
With the 2-1 victory Hopkins advances to the Minnesota State High School Leagues State girls’ soccer tournament.
