ST. FRANCIS TOOK ON MAPLE GROVE IN A BASKETBALL GAME

St. Francis went up against Maple Grove in a basketball game. St. Francis looked to push the ball the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.

Maple Grove started out in a zone defense. That made St. Francis take a look of time off the clock.

Maple Grove’s Noah Champion was all over the floor. He was able to drive to the basket and make layups. If Champion didn’t think that he could make layups he wasn’t afraid to shoot mid-range jump shots.

There were several ties and lead changes throughout the first half. Neither team went on a run.  The defensive pressure made it hard for either team to make open shots.

Maple Grove did a good job of moving the ball down the floor and making layups in transition. They took advantage of the fast break.

The zone that Maple Grove used made St. Francis have to swing the ball around the three-point line.

St. Francis attacked the zone defense. Maple Grove’s Brad Davison was able to get steals out of the defense and made layups on the offensive end.

At halftime the score was Maple Grove 19, St. Francis 13.

As the second half got underway St. Francis stayed in their zone defense. Maple Grove also went to a zone defense to start the second half.

St. Francis came out slow to start the second half. They were not able to hit shots early. Maple Grove took advantage of that as they attacked the basket and were able to hit shots they put up.

St. Francis couldn’t get their offense to get going and Maple Grove was too quick.

Maple Grove came away with the 43-18 victory over St. Francis.
