CONCORDIA ST. PAUL TOOK ON WINONA STATE UNIVERSITY IN A FOOTBALL MATCH UP


Concordia St. Paul took on Winona State in a NSIC conference show down. Concordia came into the game with a record of 5-2 overall and Winona State had a record of 4-3 overall.


Winona State kicked off to Concordia to begin the game. Concordia started on their 26-yard line to begin the game. Concordia was not able to able to convert on fourth down and they had to punt the ball to Winona State.


Winona State looked to Rayon Simmons their running back to begin the game. Curtis Dewberry also looked to get the ball. Winona State was able to convert on third down. Curtis Dewberry was able to come up with a few big plays in the first quarter. Winona State scored a touchdown with 7:38 left to go in the first quarter. The extra point was good.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball back after the touchdown. Calvin Simon came up with a good catch for a first down. Spencer Ohm was able to pick up 21 yards when he found Charles Gilbert for a first down. They were knocking on the door. Sam Camble found the end zone with 2:55 left in the first quarter. The extra point was good.


With 2:55 left to go in the first quarter the score was tied at 7.


Winona State got the ball back after the Concordia St. Paul touchdown. Their defense really stepped up. They were able to come up with some big up with some plays.


At the end of the first quarter the score was tied at 7.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball to begin the second quarter. They looked to both air the ball out and run with it.


Concordia St. Paul’s defense came up and they were able to slow down Winona State. Concordia St. Paul was able to come up with a touchdown. Calvin Simon made a 24-yard catch for a touchdown. The extra point was good.


With 8:31 left to go in the second quarter the score was Concordia St. Paul 14 and Winona State 7.


Winona State got the ball back and they were able to get a touchdown with 4:32 left on a Bryan Bradshaw got a 1 yard touchdown run. The extra point was good.


With that touchdown the score was tied at 14.


Concordia St. Paul looked to get the ball into the end zone late in the first half.


With 2.4 seconds left to go in the half Steven King tried a field goal but was unsuccessful.


At halftime the score was tied at 14.


Winona State got the ball to begin the third quarter. Rayon Simmons got the ball early on in the quarter. He was all over the field in the first half. They looked to get him the ball throughout the second half.


Concordia St. Paul defense stepped up big early in the third quarter. They forced Winona State to punt early in the third quarter.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball back and they wanted to march down the field to the end zone. Concordia St. Paul’s Steven King tried to make a field goal but it failed.


Winona State came up with a big play on their offensive end. They were able drive down the field on a 2 yard run by Rayon Simmons. The extra point was good.


Winona State got back into the lead with the touchdown. With 5:33 left to go in the third quarter the score was Winona State 21 and Concordia St. Paul 14.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball back after the touchdown. They wanted to get the ball into the end zone. That’s what they did as Hayden Vavra was in the end zone for a touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good. With 1:25 left to go in the third quarter the score was tied 21.


Winona State got the ball back after the touchdown. They looked to get Rayon Simmons into the playbook as they wanted to get the ball into his hands.


At the end of the third quarter the score was tied at 21.


Winona State got the ball to begin the fourth quarter. Winona State Thomas Kiney tried a 43-yard field goal attempt and it was successful. With that field goal the score was Winona State 24 and Concordia St. Paul 21.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball after the Winona State touchdown. Concordia St. Paul wanted to air the ball out early in the fourth quarter. They were not able to convert and they had to punt the ball back to Winona State.


Winona State got the ball back and they got the ball into Rayon Simmons. He was able to find holes in the Winona State’s defense. Theo Burkett found a hole and he was able to score on a 22-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.


With 10:46 left the score was Winona State 31 and Concordia St. Paul 21.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball back after the Winona State touchdown. Concordia St. Paul looked to march down the field and they threaded to score a touchdown. Hayden Vavra scored a touchdown with 7:57 left to go in regulation. The extra point was good.


With 7:57 left to go in regulation the score was Winona State 31 and Concordia St. Paul 28.


Winona State kept looking for Curtis Dewberry. I really thought that he had a very good game. They were able to utilize him in all different down situations.


Rayon Simmons also looked to get the ball late in the game. Concordia St. Paul wanted to slow him down the whole game. Winona State looked to score late in the game. Thomas Kinney tried a 38-yard field goal with 2:46 left in regulation. The field goal attempt was no good.


Concordia St. Paul got the ball back after the failed field goal attempt. They were not able to convert. Winona State got the ball back with 1:25 left to go in the game.


Winona State was able to come away with the 31-28 victory over Concordia St. Paul.
