EDEN PRAIRIE TOOK ON MINNETONKA IN A REGIONAL PLAYOFF FOOTBALL CONTEST
Eden Prairie took on Minnetonka in a region semi final match up. Eden Prairie had a record of 7-1 coming into the game. Minnetonka had a record of 5-4 coming into the contest.
Minnetonka kicked off to Eden Prairie to begin the game. Gayson Levine returned the ball to the 32-yard line. Eden Prairie started with the ball. Rumeal Harris came up big with a nice running play for a first down.
Eden Prairie kept the ball on the ground. They wanted to keep pounding the ball on the ground in the early goings. Andrew Larson one of the running backs came up big with some nice drives. Eden Prairie was not able to convert on fourth down and they turned the ball over to Minnetonka.
Minnetonka kept the ball on the ground on their first drive of the game. They were able to get a first down. Austin Harrington came up with a first down for Minnetonka. Minnetonka looked to pass the ball. The Eden Prairie’s defense wanted to slow down the offense for Minnetonka. Minnetonka was not able to convert on fourth down and they had to put the ball back to Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie fumbled the punt and Minnetonka recovered the football on the 20-yard line. Minnetonka’s quarterback Scott Benedict was able to find his receivers for a few first downs in the first quarter. Scott Benedict found the end zone with a one yard touchdown run with 30 seconds left to go in the first quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
With 30 seconds left in the first quarter the score was Minnetonka 7 and Eden Prairie 0.
Minnetonka kicked off to Eden Prairie after the touchdown. The kick went into the end zone and it was ruled a touchback.
Eden Prairie’s Derek Soderberg came up with a big reception late in the quarter.
At the end of the first quarter the score was Minnetonka 7 and Eden Prairie 0.
Eden Prairie got the ball to begin the second quarter. Eden Prairie tried a trick play and it worked. Eden Prairie lined up for a field goal and they ended up passing the ball and came up with the ball on the four yard line. Andrew Larson scored a touchdown from 4- yards out with 10:21 left to go in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
With 10:21 left to go the game was tied at 7.
Eden Prairie kicked off to Minnetonka after the touchdown. Minnetonka looked for short passes. Malcom Moore was able to show his receiving skills as he came up with nice catches in the first half. Minnetonka was not able to convert on third down and they had to punt the ball back to Eden Prairie. Minnetonka faked the punt and they ran with it instead but they were not able to come up with the first down and had to turn the ball over to Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie kept the ball on the ground. Rumeal Harris got the ball and he took off and was able to come up a first down. Andrew Larson was able to get the ball to the 5- yard line. Andrew Lawson came up with a 5 yard touchdown run with 6:16 left to go in the second quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
With 6:16 the score was Eden Prairie 14 and Minnetonka 7.
Eden Prairie kicked off to Minnetonka after the touchdown. Minnetonka kept the ball on the ground. They wanted to pound the ball down the field. Malcom Moore came up with a first down. Minnetonka had to punt the ball back to Eden Prairie with 3:22 left to go in the second quarter.
Eden Prairie kept the ball on ground. Andrew Larson came up with a 34 yard first down run late in the quarter. Eden Prairie went to a hurry up offense late in the quarter. Andrew Larson came up with a four yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.
With 20 seconds left to go in the second quarter the score was Eden Prairie 21 and Minnetonka 7.
At halftime the score was Eden Prairie 21 and Minnetonka 7.
Eden Prairie kicked off to Minnetonka to begin the third quarter. Minnetonka got the ball on their 26-yard line. James Farrow came up with the ball and pick up a few yards. Minnetonka was not able to convert on fourth down and they had to punt to Eden Prairie.
Eden Prairie got the ball back and they looked to get another first down midway through the third quarter. Grayson Levine got the ball in his hands and was able to get a first down. Andrew Larson came up with another first down for Eden Prairie. Andrew Larson came up with a touchdown with 4:43 left to go in the third quarter. The extra point attempt was good.
With 4:43 left in the third quarter the score was Eden Prairie 28 and Minnetonka 7.
Eden Prairie kicked off to Minnetonka after the touchdown. On Minnetonka’s first play Ben Wahalqist for Eden Prairie intercepted the pass and scored a touchdown for Eden Prairie. The extra point attempt was good.
With 4:32 left to go in the score was Eden Prairie 35 and Minnetonka 7.
Eden Prairie kicked it off again after the touchdown to Minnetonka. Austin Harrington came up with a nice reception for Minnetonka for a first down. They looked to get the ball into the end zone. They were able to get the ball into the red zone. Minnetonka went for it on fourth down. Austin Harrington came up with a 28 yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.
With 47 seconds left to go in the third quarter the score was Eden Prairie 35 and Minnetonka 14.
Andrew Larson got a 43 yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was good.
At the end of the third quarter the score was Eden Prairie 42 and Minnetonka 14.
Eden Prairie kicked off to Minnetonka to begin the fourth quarter. Minnetonka didn’t give up. They kept on battling throughout the game. Eden Prairie was not able to come up with a first down and they had to punt the ball back to Minnetonka.
With 3:14 left in the fourth quarter Minnetonka’s Malcom Moore came up with a 45- yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was not good. With 3:14 left to go in regulation the score was Eden Prairie 42 and Minnetonka 20.
Eden Prairie got ball back and they ran out the clock to end the game.
Eden Prairie was able come away with the 42-20 victory over Minnetonka. Andrew Larson for Eden Prairie had a big game. He ended up with five touchdowns in the game. I also thought that Brian Athey played really well.
After the game I was able to talk to Eden Prairie’s head coach Mike Grant. I was also able to talk to Eden Prairie players Andrew Larson and Brian Athey about the semifinal victory over Minnetonka.
