OSSEO TOOK ON WAYZATA IN THE MINNETONKA BOYS’ BASKETBALL FALL LEAGUE


In the second week of the boys’ basketball Minnetonka fall league the first game was Osseo against Wayzata.


The game started out with Osseo winning the tip. Both teams had trouble getting a rhythm on the offensive end. They were not able to drop shots early.


Osseo started in a zone defense. They wanted to spread Wayzata out. Wayzata did a good job of extending the defense and they were able to get into Osseo players’ faces.


Osseo’s Jerrod Berven came up with some huge defensive rebounds. He was camped out underneath the basket. Whenever a shot went up he was there to grab the rebound. Jerrod was able to find his guards who pushed the ball up the court in transition.


The game was close throughout the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run early in the game.


Osseo was able to score baskets in transition. Wayzata was able to counter as neither team went on a run in the first half.


Wayzata switched between man-to-man defense and zone defense throughout the first half. Osseo was able to figure that out and they were able to counter with their offense. Osseo took their time on the offensive end.


Both teams went at each other throughout the first half. At halftime the score was Wayzata 22 and Osseo 17.


As the second half got underway both teams continued to play hard. Wayzata wanted to extend on their lead.


Osseo continued to take their time on the time on the offensive end. They wanted to chip away at Wayzata. Wayzata didn’t want to let Osseo get the lead.


Wayzata was patient on the offensive end. They were able to run their offense and take time off the clock.


Wayzata was a little quicker then Osseo on the offensive end. Osseo was not able to hit their shots midway through the second half. Wayzata was able to capitalize on Osseo’s mistakes.


Osseo went on a run late in the game. They were able to cut the score to 44-40 with 5:05 left to go in regulation.


Both teams continued to go after each other late in the contest. Wayzata was able to come away with the 56-47 victory over Osseo.
