MINNETONKA TOOK ON APPLE VALLEY IN THE MINNETONKA FALL LEAGUE
Minnetonka took on Apple Valley in the Minnetonka fall league. Both teams looked to get the ball up the court early in the game.
Apple Valley looked to get the ball into Tyus Jones hands. Tyus was able to create his own shots. Apple Valley was able to find the basket early in the contest.
Apple Valley went to a man-to-man defense midway through the first half. The game was close throughout the first half. Neither team was able to go on a run in the first half.
Both teams traded baskets late in the first half. Tyus Jones did a good job of directing his team on the court. He knew where his players were supposed to be on the court. He knows the game and he is a good floor leader when he is on the court.
Minnetonka did a good job of not letting Apple Valley go on big runs throughout the first half.
At halftime the score was tied at 29.
As the second half got underway both teams continued to look to push the ball up the court. Neither team was able to go on a run neither throughout the first half nor into the second half. The game was very competitive throughout the second half. Neither team gave up.
Minnetonka wanted to try to contain Apple Valley’s Tyus Jones. They had a hard time doing that. Jones is one of the top players in the state of Minnesota.
Minnetonka used a zone defense in the second half. They were able to extend the defense and they wanted to slow Apple Valley down.
Neither team was able to go on a run in the second half. The game came down to the wire.
Both teams looked good on both ends of the court. They fought hard until the end of the game.
Apple Valley came away with the 78-73 victory over Minnetonka.
