ROBBINSDALE COOPER TOOK ON CHAMPLIN PARK IN A REGIONAL BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

Robbinsdale Cooper took on Champlin Park in a boys' basketball region game.
 
The game got off to a quick start. Both teams shot the ball well.
 
Cooper looked to get the ball into the hands of Terrance Avertheart. Averyheart took the ball hard to the basket.
 
Champlin Park took time looking for their shots. They wanted to take as much time as they could off
the clock.
 
The scoring went back and forth throughout the first half. Neither team really was able to go on a run in
the first half.
 
Cooper looked to push the ball in transition.
 
Champlin Park took a timeout midway through the first half. The score was Champlin Park 18 and
Cooper 14.
 
Averyheart was able to knock down some deep three-point shots. He kept Cooper in the game.
 
Both teams played very well on the defensive end. Neither team got an open shot at the basket.
 
Cooper went to a zone defense. That was able to slow Champlin Park down.
 
At halftime the score was Cooper 26 and Champlin Park 22.
 
As the second half got underway Cooper came out flying. They looked to attack the basket. On the
defensive end they were much more aggressive than the first half.
 
Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. Cooper went on a run to open the half. Champlin Park
didn't know how to respond.
 
The game was close throughout. Each time a team went on a run the other team stepped up their
defense and responded well by shutting them down. It was a game of runs.

Cooper’s Rashad Vaughn took the ball strong to the basket. He was able to consistently hit shots.
 
The game came down to the end. The lead went back and forth during the last two minutes of the game.
Cooper came away with the 56-54 victory over Champlin Park.
 
The leading scorer for Cooper was Tarrance Averyheart with 18 points. The leading scorer for
Champlin Park was Anthony Hill with 19 points.

 Cooper will take on Osseo in the section final to go to the state tournament on Friday March 18, 2011.
