Sauk Centre took on Caledonia at the Target Center in the Minnesota State High School League girls’
state basketball quarterfinal game.
Caledonia came out hot as they were able to gain a 6-0 lead before Sauk Centre was able to make a
shot.
Sauk Centre responded well though. They were able to answer and got within a point at 6-5 with 12:06
left in the first half.
Caledonia didn't back down throughout the first half. They kept the pressure on Sauk Centre.
Caladonia's Maria Fruechte took the ball hard to the basket. They went on a run midway through the
half.
The first half was very close.
At halftime the score was tied at 27.
As the second half got underway both teams continued to play solid defense. Neither team was able to
get open attempts at the basket. All of the shots were contested.
For Caledonia, Emma Lange was able to most of her shots that she was putting up. Her teammates did
a good job of getting her the ball in spots where she could make shots.
Sauk Centre went on a run midway though the half. Caledonia went cold as they were not able to hit
shots.
Caledonia made the game interesting in the second half as they were able to go on a run. But in the end
Sauk Centre was too much for Caledonia.
Sauk Centre came away with the 58-43 victory over Caledonia.
