Rochester Mayo took on Eden Prairie in the girls’ state quarterfinal game. Rochester Mayo got out to a
quick start.
Julie Miller for Mayo started the game on fire.
The pace of the game was slow. Neither team was able to hit their shots in the opening minutes of the
game.
Both teams played extremely well on the defensive end. Neither team took many shots in the first half.
It was a very low scoring affair across the board in the first half.
Eden Prairie trapped Rochester Mayo and they were able to create turnovers. Eden Prairie was able to
create points off of those turnovers.
At halftime the score was Eden Prairie 27 and Rochester Mayo 16.
Eden Prairie came out of halftime on fire. They got up 34-16 with 16:07 left in regulation before
Rochester made a shot.
Eden Prairie went to a zone defense. They were able to spread Rochester Mayo out.
Rochester Mayo had a difficult time making their shots that they put up.
Eden Prairie went on fire in the second half. Rochester Mayo had a hard time slowing down the Eden
Prairie offense.
Eden Prairie went on to win the game by the final of 55-28. Eden Prairie was led in scoring by Rose
VanRiper and Jackie Johnson each with 15 points each.
The leading scorer for Rochester Mayo was Julie Miller with 13 points.
