On Jan. 6 Hamline and Augsburg squared off in a men's basketball game.
Augsburg pushed the ball down the floor and looked to score baskets in transition.
Augsburg started the game in a zone defense. They wanted to force Hamline to take deep 3-point shots.

Augsburg’s Brett Rasmussen came up with mid-range jump shots and layups. His teammates did a good job of getting him the ball in spots where he could shoot it.
After a slow start by Hamline they started to hit shots that they put up.

Augsburg’s Collin Olmscheid and Rasmussen both continued to some up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
Both teams were not afraid to shoot 3-point shots late in the first half.

As the second half got underway Augsburg continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
Hamline’s Brian Hartman came up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half.

Hamline stayed in a zone defense. Augsburg was able to get the ball inside and come up with layups.

Augsburg tried to slow down the Hamline offense in the second half. They had trouble doing that.
Hamline kept attacking the basket.
There were many ties and lead changes with under 7 minutes left in regulation. Hamline got hot late in the contest as Olmscheid and Rasmussen both continued to come up with huge baskets.

Hamline called a timeout with 1:31 left in regulation. The score was Hamline 75, Augsburg 74.
As the clock wound down both teams didn’t lose their cool.
Hamline’s Zach Smith came up with huge clutch mid-range jump shots and layups throughout the game.
Augsburg came away with the 80-77 victory over Hamline.
The leading scorers for Hamline were Smith with 21 points and Connor Knutson with 14 points, and Brian Hartman with 13 points.
The leading scorers for Augsburg were Olmscheid with 29 points, Rasmussen with 19 points, and Joe Zangel with 14 points.
