On Jan. 12 Minneapolis North and Minneapolis Henry squared off in a boys' basketball game. The gym was packed as this game was a huge rivalry game.
Henry started the game in man-to-man defense. It looked like a zone. They wanted force North to take deep 3-point baskets.
Henry looked to attack the basket, and score baskets in transition. Henry got everyone involved in the offense.
Henry looked to get the ball into the hands of Markest Brown. Brown took the ball hard to the basket and came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
North called a timeout with 12:33 left in the first half. The score was North 17, Henry14.
North pushed the ball down the floor and came up with layups in transition.
Henry’s Julian Jackson came up mid-range jump shots and layups.
North’s ODell Wilson came up with block shots. He was also able to come up with layups on the offensive end.
Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.
North’s Tyler Johnson, Patrick Dembley and Isaac Johnson call came up with shots in the first half. They knew where their teammates were on the floor and were able to get them the ball in spots where they could shoot it.
At halftime the score was North 49, Henry 40.
As the second half got underway North continued to push the ball down the floor and score layups in transition.
North called a timeout with 16:26 left in regulation. The score was North 54, Henry 45.
Henry got everyone involved in the offense. They did a good job of talking to everyone on the floor.
North’s Jamil Jackson came up with 3-point shots and layups. North did a good job of sharing the ball and getting everyone involved in the offense.
North looked to swing the ball around the 3-point line to take time off the clock midway through the second half.
North was able to make fast breaks, as they were quicker than Henry.
North called a timeout with 8:51 left in regulation. The score was North 80, Henry 66.
North continued to push the ball down the floor and score baskets in transition.
Henry didn’t give up as they kept attacking the basket and coming up with layups.
North’s Ahzerick Rodgers came up with layups late in the game.
North came away with the 106-91 victory over Henry.
The leading scorers for Henry were Scott with 21, Jackson 20 and Edwards-Brown 18.
The leading scorers for North were Dembley and Isaac Johnson each with 29 points, and Tyler Johnson with 23 points.
