ZIMMERMAN WENT UP AGAINST HIBBING IN A BOYS' BASKETBALL GAME

The Target Center was the site for the Zimmerman and Hibbing boys' basketball game on Jan. 9.

Both teams started the game off in a zone defense.  Zimmerman passed the ball around the 3-point line. They also were able to attack the zone defense.

Zimmerman pushed the ball down the floor as they looked to score baskets in transition.

Hibbing took a lot of time off the clock by passing the ball around the 3-point line.

It took a while for both teams to get into a scoring rhythm.  They had to get used to playing on a bigger floor.

The score went back and forth in the first half.

Zimmerman looked to get the ball into the hands of Kody Dwyer. Dwyer did a good job of attempting layups on the low block.

Zimmerman called a timeout with 9:29 left in the first half. The score was Hibbing 11, Zimmerman 7.

Zimmerman went through a scoring drought midway through the first half. They had a difficult time making shots that they put up.

Hibbing was able to make fast break layups. They were able to get past the Zimmerman defense.

Zimmerman’s Thunder Heyer came up with midrange jump shots and layups.

Neither team went on a huge run in the first half.

At halftime the score was Hibbing 23, Zimmerman 22.

As the second half got underway the score continued to go back and forth.

Zimmerman’s Heyer and Dwyer continued to come up with mid-range jump shots and layups in the second half. Their teammates did a good job of feeding the ball in spots where they could make it.

Hibbing’s Travis Carruth and Phil Rebrovich both came up with shots. They were comfortable playing on the bigger floor.

Neither team took many shots throughout the game.

Hibbing called a timeout with 11:11 left in regulation. The score was Hibbing 28, Zimmerman 25.

The score remained close in the second half. Neither team went on a run.

Zimmerman stayed in their zone for most of the second half. They really made Hibbing work for their shots.

Zimmerman got hot late in regulation. They were able to make shots down the stretch.

Zimmerman came away with the 51-41 victory over Hibbing.

The leading scorers for Hibbing were Carruth with 13 points and Rebrovich with 9 points.

The leading scorers for Zimmerman were Heyer with 17 points, and Dwyer with 13 points.
