CHARLOTTE TOOK ON THE UNIVERSITY OF MINNESOTA IN A WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

Charlotte and the University of Minnesota went up against each other in a women’s basketball game.
Charlotte came into the game with a record of 1-1 while Minnesota had a record of 1-0.
 
Both teams looked to set the tempo of the game early. Minnesota looked to push the ball down the floor in transition.
 
Charlotte took a lot of time off of the shot clock. They didn’t rush their shots. Minnesota started off in a man-to-man defense. Minnesota made sure that Charlotte didn’t take any open looks at the basket.
 
There was a media timeout with 15:59 left in the first half. The score was Minnesota 6, Charlotte 4.
 
Minnesota was really able to get the ball out of the Charlotte basket and move the ball down the floor and was able to get baskets on their end of the floor.
 
Minnesota’s Stabresa McDaniel was all over the floor. She got the ball into her teammates’ hands and was able to get everyone involved in the offense. If McDaniel thought one of her teammates had a better shot she was not afraid to pass her the ball for the assist.
 
There was a media timeout with 10:53 left in the first half. The score was Minnesota 21, Charlotte 10.
 
Both teams dove on the floor after loose balls. On the defensive end neither team gave up any easy shots.
 
Charlotte kept on attacking the basket and looking for shots that they thought that they could make.
 
There was a media timeout with 7:24 left to go. The score was Minnesota 30, Charlotte 14.
 
Tori Carter for Charlotte got hit in the face and was attended to on the court with 6:49 left. Carter played well throughout the first half.
 
Minnesota continued to shoot the ball well on the offensive end. On the defensive end they were able to slow Charlotte down.
 
At the final media timeout with 3:54 left in the first half. The score was Minnesota 41, Charlotte 19.
 
Minnesota continued to take the ball hard to the basket.
 
At halftime the score was Minnesota 49, Charlotte 27.
 
Minnesota’s Rachel Banham was all over the floor. Banham got into a shooting rhythm and her teammates fed off of her success.
 
There was a media timeout with 15:25 left in regulation. The score was Minnesota 59, Charlotte 35.
 
With the score at a margin that it was Minnesota looked to slow down the tempo and really looked to get deep into the offense as they wanted to use as much time off the clock as they could without getting a shot clock violation.
 
There was a media timeout with 11:57 left in regulation. The score was Minnesota 64, Charlotte 35.
 
Minnesota switched up between man-to-man and defense in the second half. They were able to slow Charlotte down.
 
There was a media timeout with 7:04 left in regulation. The score was Minnesota 74, Charlotte 44.
 
Minnesota continued to push the ball down the floor late in the contest.
 
The score at the final media timeout with 3:37 left was Minnesota 84, Charlotte 50.

In a game that was a blowout from the start Minnesota came away with the 90-55 victory over Charlotte.
 
For the game Charlotte was led in scoring by Gabby Tyler with 16 points. They shot 17-68 from the field. That included going 0-1 from behind the three-point line. They were 21-29 from the free throw line. Charlotte brought down 36 rebounds 19 of them on the defensive end.  
 
For the game Minnesota was led in scoring by Banham with 20 points and Amanda Zahui with 19 points. They shot 32-66 from the field. That included going 5-9 from behind the three-point line. They were 21-30 from the free throw line. Minnesota brought down 54 rebounds 37 of them on the defensive end.
