MACALESTER TOOK ON UNIVERSITY OF NORTHWESTERN IN A WOMEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

Macalester and Northwestern went up against each other in a women’s basketball game.
 
Northwestern looked to use the shot clock to their advantage early on. They passed the ball around the three-point line as they looked for shots that they wanted to make.  
 
Northwestern went up a full-court press. They looked to make it hard for Macalester to hit shots.
 
Macalester did a good job of looking to get the ball out of the basket and score in transition. 
 
Macalester also was able to get the ball into the post where Veronilka Jakubovie looked to get layups. She did a good job of calling for the ball and was able to get to the basket and get shots.
 
Northwestern used both man-to-man and zone defense in the first half. They were able to make Macalester work for every shot that they took.  
 
Northwestern called a timeout with 11:06 left in the first half. The score was Macalester 14, Northwestern 6.
 
Maddie Johnson for Northwestern and Jakubovie went up against each other on the low block. They called for the ball when they were on offense and they both went for rebounds on both ends of the floor.
 
The Northwestern offense went stagnant for a period of time in the first half. They were not able to hit shots that they put up.
 
Northwestern was able to keep the game close late in the first half. They were able to come up with some stops on the defensive end.
 
At halftime the score was Macalester 29, Northwestern 23.
 
Emma Leyden for Macalester was all over the floor. She was able to get her jump shot to drop. Her teammates did a good job of getting her the ball in spots where they knew that she could make it from.
 
The score went back and forth throughout the second half. Northwestern was able to slow the
 
Macalester offense down in the second half.
 
Both teams took their time on the offensive end. Neither team looked to shoot the ball with more than 15 seconds on the shot clock.
 
Jessica Fife, Hannah Holm, and Chanel Madson for Northwestern were able to get their shots to drop throughout the game. They were not afraid to pass to their teammates if they thought that their shots were not going in.
 
The game came down to the wire. Neither team gave up easy baskets.
 
Fife continued to hit shots down the stretch.
 
In game that took a while to get going and a comeback. Northwestern came away with the 52-48 victory over Macalester.
 
The leading scorers for Northwestern were Fife with 17 points and Chanel Madson with 11 points.
 
The leading scorers for Macalester were Jakubovie with 10 points, Emma Leyden with 9 points and Taylor Pike with 8 points.
