EASTVIEW TOOK ON ROSEMOUNT IN A QUARTERFINAL STATE FOOTBALL GAME

Eastview and Rosemount went up against each other in a Class 6A quarterfinal boys’ state football game. The game was played at the University of Minnesota at TCF Bank Stadium.
 
Eastview kicked off to Rosemount to start the game. Rosemount didn’t move the ball on their first drive of the game, and they had to punt the ball on fourth down.
 
Both teams had difficulty moving the ball early. Both defenses stepped up and slowed the other team down.  Eastview didn’t get a first down so they punted the ball.
 
It took each team awhile to get into an offensive rhythm as they both had trouble moving the ball.
 
Neither team was able to get their offense going in the first quarter.  
 
With 44 seconds left in the first quarter Rosemount’s Tyrek Cross had a 40-yard touchdown rush. The extra point attempt was good.
 
After one quarter of play the score was Rosemount 7, Eastview 0.
 
Rosemount got the ball on a turnover on downs. Dimitiri Williams was all over the field for Rosemount. Tray Ashby-Phan also came up with some nice catches to help move the chains. He was able to pick up a first down early in the second quarter.  Rosemount found the end zone on a 25-yard field goal by Alex Trana.
 
With 8:39 left in the second quarter the score was Rosemount 10, Eastview 0.
 
Rosemount punted on fourth down. Eastview got the ball on their own 14 yard line.
 
Williams found Tyler Hartigan for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. With 7:04 left in the second quarter the score was Rosemount 17, Eastview 0.
 
Eastview moved the ball on the next series. They used both running and passing plays. Eastview punted the ball on fourth-and-nine.
 
Rosemount couldn’t move the ball and Eastview took over on downs.
 
Eastview’s Will Rains ran 31 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
 
At halftime the score was Rosemount 17, Eastview 7.
 
Rosemount kicked off to Eastview to start the third quarter. Eastview got the ball at midfield. Eastview moved the ball down the field both by air and the run game. Rosemount took over on downs.
 
Rosemount’s Lowell Green ran the ball 15 yards and made a dive into the end zone for a touchdown.
 
The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 8:24 left in the third quarter the score was Rosemount 24, Eastview 7.
 
Eastview tried to move the ball down the field. The Rosemount defense stepped up and was able to slow down the Eastview offense. Eastview had to punt the ball.
 
Rosemount got the ball back. Williams scored again on a 54-yard touchdown reception.
 
The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 4:02 left in the third quarter the score was Rosemount 31, Eastview 7.
 
Eastview was not able to move the ball and they elected to punt the ball on fourth down.
 
Rosemount got the ball back on their own 31 yard line. They moved the ball on the ground. A lot of different players touched the ball on the offensive line.
 
After three quarters of play the score was Rosemount 31, Eastview 7.
 
Rosemount’s Cross ran 12 yards for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.
 
With 11:00 left in the fourth quarter the score was Rosemount 38, Eastview 7.
 
Eastview looked to get their offense going again as they looked to get into the back of the end zone.
 
In a hard-fought game Rosemount came away with the 38-7 victory over Eastview.
 
After the game I was able to talk to Rosemount’s Dimitri Williams, Tyrek Cross, and Lowell Green about the game.
