MACALESTER TOOK ON NORTHWESTERN IN A MEN’S BASKETBALL GAME

Macalester and Northwestern went up against each other in a men’s basketball game. It took a while for each of these teams to get into an offensive rhythm.

Macalester looked to get baskets in transition. Kareem Ismail for Macalester was all over the floor. He was able to get to the basket and looked to make layups.
 
Northwestern’s Will Gisler was all over the floor. He was able to get into an offensive shooting rhythm in the first half. Gisler was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.  
 
Macalester’s Kyle Bernhard was all over the floor. He knew where everyone was supposed to be on the floor and he communicated well and told his players when and where the picks were coming from. If Bernhard knew his teammates had a good shoot he would pass it to them for an assist.
 
Teammate Dylan Kilgour and Bernhard had good communication on the floor.
 
Northwestern was able to knock down shots late in the first half. They were able to slow down the Macalester offense by taking them out of the game by stepping up their man-to-man defensive pressure.
 
At halftime the score was Northwestern 38, Macalester 23.
 
Northwestern came out of the halftime break looking to take a lot of time off the clock. They were able to do that as they swung the ball around the three-point line. Macalester switched between man-to-man and zone defense throughout the second half.
 
Michael Carney for Northwestern was able to nail jump shots for his team. The Macalester defense couldn’t slow him down. Carney was not afraid to shoot the ball from anywhere on the floor.
 
Northwestern kept on knocking down shots in the second half. Macalester had a rough time shooting
the ball.
 
Northwestern came away with the 83-64 over Macalester.
 
The leading scorers for Macalester were Dylan Kilgour and Griffin Glatt each with 14 points.
 
The leading scorers Northwestern were Will Gisler 21, Michael Carney with 15 and Blake Van Maanen with 14 points.
