MINNEAPOLIS ROOSEVELT WENT UP AGAINST CRISTO REY IN A BOYS’ BASKETBALL GAME

Minneapolis Roosevelt and Cristo Rey went up against each other in a boys’ basketball game.  Roosevelt took their time on the offensive end right out of the gate. They passed the ball around the three-point line as they looked to get everyone involved in the offense. 

On the defensive end, Roosevelt started in a zone defense. Cristo Rey passed the ball around the three-point line to stake time off the clock. 

It took a while for each team to get into a scoring rhythm. They both took their time on the offensive end. 

Roosevelt did a good job of getting everyone involved in the offense. They talked a lot on both ends of the floor. 

Cristo Rey moved the ball down the floor and was able to score baskets in transition. Cristo Rey was also able to come up with steals and score layups in transition off the steals. 

Roosevelt called a time out with 10:32 left in the first half. The score was Cristo Rey 17, Roosevelt 8. 

Cristo Rey set the tempo early. They were able to push the ball down the floor and come up with layups. 

Cristo Rey looked to score baskets in transition. They would get the ball out of the net and race down the floor for layups. 

Cristo Rey called a timeout with 7:31 left in the first half. The score was Cristo Rey 22, Roosevelt 12.

Cristo Rey moved the ball down the field well and looked to get the ball into the hands of James Sommer. Sommer was able to step up and knock down mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Roosevelt had a difficult time shooting the ball throughout the first half. They were not able to make shots that they put up. 

The defensive pressure that Cristo Rey applied made it difficult for Roosevelt to make or take open shots. 

Roosevelt’s Montgomery Booth came up with mid-range jump shots and layups late in the first half. His teammates were able to get him the ball in spots where he could shoot it. 

At halftime the score was Cristo Rey 46, Roosevelt 24. 

As the second half got underway Roosevelt continued to push the ball down the floor and look for mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Cristo Rey continued to push the ball down the floor and was able to score baskets in transition. 

Roosevelt called a timeout with 14:28 left in regulation. The score was Cristo Rey 60, Roosevelt 31. 

Cristo Rey tried not to get to sloppy with the ball and now turn the ball over.

Cristo Rey called a timeout with 13:14 left in regulation. The score was Cristo Rey 64, Roosevelt 37.

Cristo Rey continued to push the ball down floor and come up with mid-range jump shots and layups. 

Both teams played hard throughout the game. Roosevelt had a hard time scoring the ball throughout the game. Even though Roosevelt had a had time scoring the ball they made god looks at the basket. 

Cristo Rey came away with the 91-57 victory over Roosevelt.
