ST. JOHNS WENT UP AGAINST ST. THOMAS IN A FOOTBALL GAME

It was a historic day at Allianz Field in downtown St. Paul as St. Johns and St. Thomas went up against each other in a football game. Allianz Field is the home of the Minnesota United Soccer team. On Oct. 19, American football was key was St. Johns and St. Thomas renewed their historic rivalry at Allianz Field.

St. John’s kicked off to start the game. St. Thomas took over on their own 25-yard line. St. Thomas looked to keep the ball on the ground on their first drive. St. Thomas moved the ball both threw the air and the ground. St. Thomas punted on 4th-down. The punt went into the end zone St. Johns took over on their own 20-yard line.

St. Johns was intercepted by Tommy Fuller. St. Thomas kept the running attack going as they looked to get into the red zone. St. Thomas Grant Slavik came up with a six-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 6:41 left in the first quarter. The score was St. Thomas 7, St. Johns 0.

St. John’s on their own 25-yard line. St. Johns couldn’t get a first down and punted on 4th-down.

With 3:23 left in the first quarter the score was St. Thomas 14, St. Johns 0.

St. Johns moved the ball down the field and 28, came up with a 28-yard touchdown reception. The extra point attempt was good.

With 1 second left in the first quarter, the score was St. Thomas 14, St. Johns 7.

St. Thomas started the drive on their own 25-yard line. Gabe Green came up with a 26-yard first down reception. St. Thomas couldn’t move the ball down the field, and they punted on 4th-and 5.

St. Johns looked to get into the end zone early in the quarter. St. Johns moved the ball down the field as they looked to get into the end zone. On 4th-and-4 from the 33-yard line St. Johns went for it and they were not able to come up with a first down.

St. Johns Jack Kemper came up with a huge first down reception. Ravi Alston looked to get into the end zone late in the second quarter. St. Johns Henry Trost came up with a 1-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 1:36 left in the second quarter, the score was St. Thomas 14, St. Johns 13.

St. Thomas took over on their own 30-yard line. St. Thomas moved the ball down the field.

St. John’s Jackson Erdman the quarterback took to the air as they moved the ball down the field. St. Johns found the end zone on a Tyler Johnson 3-yard touchdown reception.

The two-point conversion was good. There was a flag on the play on St. Johns. St. John’s’ extra point attempt was not good.

St. Thomas took over on their own 25-yard line. St. Thomas’ Josh Parks came up with a 68-yard touchdown run. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 12:11 left in the third quarter the score St. Thomas 20, St. Johns 19.

St. Johns took over on their own 25-yard line. St. Johns moved the ball down the filed as they took to the air for first downs. Kai Barber came up with a 29-yard touchdown run. The two-point conversion was not good.

With 9:11 left in the third quarter, the score was St. Johns 25, St. Thomas 20.

St. Thomas took over on their own 25-yard line. St. Thomas kept the defense guessing if they were going to the passing attack or the ground game. The St. John’s defense slowed the offense down and St. Thomas punted on 4th-and-8.

St. Johns took over on their own 2-yard line. St. Johns moved the ball down the field, and they went to switching between the passing and running game. On 4th-and-16 St. Johns punted the ball.

St. Thomas took over on St. Johns’ 46-yard line.

After three quarters of play, the score was St. Johns 25, St. Thomas 20.

St. Thomas got into the red zone as they looked to get into the end zone early in the quarter.  St. Thomas turned the ball over downs.

St. Johns got the ball on their own 6-yard line. St. Johns was once again on the move down the field as they looked down the field. St. Johns was determined to get into the end zone. St. Johns found the end zone on a 2-yard run by Kai Barber. The extra point attempt was not good.

With 6:47 left in the fourth quarter, the score was St. Johns 31, St. Thomas 20.

St. Thomas took over on their own 27-yard line. St. Thomas moved the ball down the field but punted on 4th-down.

St. Thomas called a timeout with 3:09 left in the fourth quarter. The score was St. Johns 31, St. Thomas 20.

St. Johns T.J. Hodge came up with a 17-yard reception for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 34 seconds left in regulation, the score was St. Johns 38, St. Thomas 20.

St. Johns came away with the 38-20 victory over St. Thomas.

The attendance of the game was 19,50.
