SMB WENT UP AGAINST ROCORI IN THE CLASS 4A STATE FOOTBALL CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

SMB and Rocori in the class 4A State Championship game. Rocori kicked off to start the game. SMB looked to move the ball down the field early. SMB’s Jalen Suggs was all over the field. On the offensive end, Suggs found Terry Lockett for SMB for a first down. Suggs came up with a 1-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 7:58 left in the first quarter, the score was SMB 7, Rocori 0.

Rocori looked to move the ball down the field as they looked to move the ball down the field. They were not able to move the ball down the field, they punted on 4th down.

SMB looked to move the ball down the field through the air late in the first quarter. They punted the ball on 4th down.

Rocori got the ball back on a punt on downs. Rocori moved the ball down the field late in the first quarter.

Rocori called a timeout with 43 seconds left in the first quarter. The score was SMB 7, Rocori 0.

Rocori found the end zone on a Jack Steil for a 3-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good. With 40 seconds left in the first quarter, the score was tied at 7.

SMB started on its own 35-yard line. SMB moved the ball down the field again.

After one quarter of play, the score was tied at 7.

SMB moved the ball down the field again. Suggs was able to get pas the defenders as he found holes in the defense. Suggs was picked off in the end zone by Tucker Haakonson in the end zone.

Rocori took over on their own 20-yard line. Rocori moved the ball down the field on the running attack. Rocori’s Andrew Anderson came up with a 34-yard reception. Rocori moved the ball down the field as they looked to keep the SMB offense off the field. Rocori had trouble moving the ball down the field.

Rocori called a timeout with 6:15 left in the second quarter. The score was tied at 7.

Rocori tried to move the ball down the field but the SMB defense was able to stop the Rocori offense.

SMB took over on downs on their own 35-yard line. SMB was picked off by Rocori’s Jack Steil. Rocori took over on the SMB 8-yard line. Rocori Christian Rodriguez attempted a 26-yard field goal attempt which was not good.

SMB took over on its own 20-yard line. The Rocori defense was able to bother Jalen Suggs. Michael Warne came up with a 26-yard sack.

SMB called a timeout with 1:51 left in the second quarter.

SMB punted on 4th-and-8 and Rocori fumbled the ball and SMB recovered the fumble. SMB took over on the Rocori’s 43-yard line.

Suggs continued to look down the field. The defensive pressure was able to get to Suggs. SMB punted on 4th-and-16.

Rocori took over on their own 20-yard line. Rocori ran out the clock to end the second quarter.

At halftime, the score was tied at 7.

SMB kicked off to start the third quarter. Rocori took over on their own 31-yard line. Rocori kept the ball on the ground on their first drive of the third quarter. Jake Steil came up with a 20-yard run for a first down. Rocori also went to the air as they wanted to confuse the SMB defense. Rocori’s Andrew Anderson came up with a 25-yard reception. Steil came up with a 5-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Christian Rodriguez was good.

With 8:22 left in the third quarter, the score was Rocori 14, SMB 7.

SMB took over on their own 40-yard line. SMB’s Sanja Reed came up with big plays that kept the SMB offense on the field. SMB was flagged for a holding penalty. That put SMB with 2nd down and 26-yards to go. The defense stepped up and slowed down the SMB defense. On 4th-and-41 SMB punted the ball.

Rocori moved the ball down the field once again. On 4th-and-4 Rocori punted the ball.

SMB took over on their own 19-yard line. Sanjay Redd came up with nice cuts and was able to come up with first downs late in the third quarter. SMB continued to move the ball down the field. Terry Lockett came up with big plays late in the game. SMB kept on fighting their way to the end zone.

After four quarters of play, the score was Rocori 14, SMB 7.

SMB Suggs came up with a 19-yard run for a first down. SMB looked to get the ball into the hands of Sanjay Redd who came up with big runs. 

Rocori called a timeout with 9:28 left in the fourth quarter. The score was Rocori 14, SMB 7.

SMB’s Redd came up with a 3-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt by Theo Crosby was good.

With 9:25 left in regulation, the score was tied at 14.

Rocori took over on their own 24-yard line. Rocori moved the ball down the field again. On 4th-and-6 Rocori punted the ball but they went for a fake and got the first down. On 4th-and-9  Rocori punted the ball.

SMB took over on their own 10-yard line. Reed came up with a first down run. SMB moved the ball down the field again as they looked to get a first down.

SMB called a timeout with 2:17 left in the fourth quarter.

On 4th-and-2 SMB went for it and came up with a first down. Terry Lockett came up with a 6-yard reception. SMB used both the running and passing attack late in the contest.

SMB called a timeout with 33 seconds left in regulation. The score was tied at 14.

On 4th-and-3 SMB punted the ball.

Rocori took over on their own 25-yard line.

At the end of regulation, the score was tied at 14.

Each team took turns on the 10-yard line to score a touchdown. They are each given a chance on the 10-yard line. Sanjay Redd came up with an 8-yard run. Suggs came up with a 1-yard run that put the ball on the 1-yard line. There was a false start on SMB that backed the ball up to the 6-yard line. Terry Lockett came up with a 6-yard touchdown catch. The extra point attempt was good.

With that touchdown, the score was SMB 21, Rocori 14.

Rocori had their shot with first and goal on the 10-yard line. Jack Steil came up with a 3-yard run. Steil kept on getting the ball. Steil was tackled for a 9-yard loss.

On 4th-and-15 Rocori called a timeout.

Rocori had the ball on 4th-and-15 with the ball on the 15-yard line. Jayden Philippi came up with a 15-yard touchdown reception. The two-point conversion by Andrew Anderson was good.

Rocori came way with the 22-21-victory over SMB.
