On Dec. 3, Minnehaha Academy and the Academy of Holy Angels squared off in a girls’ basketball game.
Both teams pushed the ball down the floor as they looked to score baskets in transition.
Minnehaha Academy called a timeout with 15:58 the score was Holy Angels 8, Minnehaha Academy 3.
Holy Angels used a zone defense as they looked to make Minnehaha Academy take deep three-point shots.
Minnehaha Academy looked to attack the basket as they looked to score baskets in transition.
Holy Angels was able to make layups in transition. Holy Angels’ Kassandra Caron came up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
Minnehaha’s Mia Curtis came up with mid-range jump shots and layups midway through the first half.
Holy Angels Francesca Vascellaro came up with her 1000 with 9:08 left in the first half on a turnover and jumper.
Minnehaha called a timeout with 8:32 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 29, Minnehaha Academy18.
Minnehaha had a tough time scoring baskets.
Minnehaha Academy called a timeout with 6:55 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 33, Minnehaha Academy 18.
The defensive pressure that Holy Angels applied made it difficult for Minnehaha Academy to make shots that they put up.
Holy Angels wasn’t afraid to take deep 3-point shots.
Minnehaha Academy called a timeout with 4:09 left in the first half. The score was Holy Angels 46, Minnehaha Academy 20.
Holy Angels’ zone defense made Minnehaha Academy have to pass the ball around the three-point line to look for an open shot.
Holy Angels was able to score layups in transition. Kassandra Caron continued to come up with shots late in the quarter.
At halftime, the score was Holy Angels 53, Minnehaha 27.
As the second half got underway Holy Angels kept on moving the ball down the floor and coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups.
Vascellaro kept on coming up with mid-range jump shots and layups. She also picked up her fourth personal foul with just over 16 minutes left in the second half.
Minnehaha’s Kate Pryor, Tanna Gallo, and Mia Curtis call came up with baskets throughout the second half.
Minnehaha swung the ball around the three-point line and looked inside. Everyone on Minnehaha on the offensive end touched the ball.
Holy Angels called a timeout with 14:21 left in regulation. The score was Holy Angels 63, Minnehaha 33.
Holy Angels scored layups in transition. They were able to create turnovers and come up with layups off the turnovers.
Even though Minnehaha struggled to score the ball they kept on shooting the ball.
Holy Angels continued attacking the basket late in the game. Everyone got the ball and had their chance to make shots.
Both teams played hard throughout the game. Minnehaha couldn’t get into a shooting rhythm. Holy Angels came away with the 97-55 victory over Minnehaha.
