WAYZATA WENT UP AGAINST CHAMPLIN PARK IN THE CLASS 6A STATE CHAMPIONSHIP GAME

Wayzata and Champlin Park went up against each other in the class 6A state football championship game.

Wayzata kicked off to Champlin Park to start the game. Champlin Park moved the ball down the field early. Champlin Park punted on 4th-down.

Wayzata took over on their own 21-yard line. Wayzata couldn’t move the ball down the field, and they punted on 4th-and-10.

Champlin Park tried to move the ball down the field. Champlin Park went for it on 4th-and-1 after a penalty on Wayzata.

Champlin Park called a timeout with 6:56 left in the first quarter. The score was tied at 0.

Champlin Park moved the ball down the field quickly in the first quarter. Champlin Park’s Jaice Miller came up with big runs as he was able to get past the Wayzata defense. Champlin Park went to the air as they looked to get into the end zone. Champlin Park’s Noah Vogelpohl attempted a 40-yard field goal which was good.

With 4:26 left in the first quarter, the score was Champlin Park 3, Wayzata 0.

Wayzata took over on their own 14-yard line. Wayzata’s Christian Vasser came up with long runs for first downs in the first quarter. The defense had a difficult time slowing Vasser down. The defensive pressure that Champlin Park applied made it difficult for Wayzata to move the ball down the field. Vasser kept on coming up with long runs.

After one quarter of play, the score was Champlin Park 3, Wayzata 0.

Wayzata’s Vasser came up with a 37-yard run that brought the ball into the red zone. Vasser came up with a 5-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 11:03 left in the second quarter, the score was Wayzata 7, Champlin Park 3.

Champlin Park took over on their own 42-yard line. Champlin Park moved the ball down the field. Brock Johnson came up with a 6-yard reception. Champlin Park used both the running and passing attack in the second quarter.

Champlin Park called a timeout with 8:30 left in the second quarter. The score was Wayzata 7, Champlin Park 3.

Champlin Park’s Brock Johnson came up with a first down reception. Champlin Park continued to look to get into the end zone and they did that on a 3-yard run by Shawn Shipman. The extra point attempt was good.

Wayzata’s Sam Robertson came up with an 80-yard return. Vasser kept on coming up with runs that put the ball into the red zone. On 4th-and-1 Wayzata went for it and Vasser came up with a first down run. Vasser came up with a 1-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 4:02 left in the second quarter, the score was Wayzata 14, Champlin Park 10.

Champlin Park took over on their own 30-yard line. Champlin Park’s Darius Givance came up with a 10-yard run for a first down. Champlin Park’s Jaice Miller came up with a 24-yard run for a first down. Miller came up with an 18-yard run. Champlin Park looked to get into the end zone late. Shawn Shipman came up with a 7-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 15 seconds left in the second quarter, the score was Champlin Park 17, Wayzata 14.

Wayzata took over on their own 28-yard line.

At halftime, the score was Champlin Park 17, Wayzata 14.

Champlin Park kicked off to start the third quarter. Wayzata took over on their own 32-yard line. Cam Hammons came up with an interception. Champlin Park tried to move the ball down the field once again. The defensive pressure got to Champlin Park early. On 4th-and-4 Champlin Park punted the ball.

Champlin Park continued to look to get the ball down the field. Champlin Park punted on 4th-and-18.

Wayzata looked to get into the end zone late in the game. Vasser came up with a 3-yard run for a touchdown. The extra point attempt was good.

With 2:07 left in the third quarter, the score was Wayzata 28, Champlin Park 17.

Champlin Park took over on their own 34-yard line. Champlin Park looked to move the ball down the field late in the quarter.

After three quarters of play the score was Wayzata 28, Champlin Park 17.

Champlin Park moved the ball down the field as they looked to get into the end zone early in the fourth quarter. Champlin Park attempted a 26-yard field goal attempt was good.

Champlin Park took over on their own 42-yard line. Champlin Park tried to move the ball downfield late in the contest.

Wayzata came away with the 35-20 victory over Champlin Park. With that win, Wayzata wins the Class 6A state title championship.
