Braham took on Orono in the Minnesota Breakdown Tip-Off Classic. Braham came into the game with a record of 1-1. Orono came into the game with a record of 0-2.
Both teams took a while to figure each other out. Orono was able to jump out to an early 11-7 lead.
Braham started in a zone defense. They looked to spread Orono out.
Braham Shaun Hollenkamp was able to step up and knock down some deep three-point shots. Sam Stigen was also able to step up and knock down three-point shots.
Neither team was able to go on a run early in the contest. Both teams dove on the floor for loose balls and went after rebounds.
Both teams were really solid on the offensive end. Neither team gave up easy baskets.
At halftime the score was Braham 36 and Orono 35.
Braham came out of the halftime really looking to push the ball down the court. Braham's Tyler Vaughan stepped up and was able to knock down some deep three-point shots.
Stigen continued to consistently knock down deep three-point shots.
Braham called a timeout with 13:07 left in regulation. The score was Braham 51 and Orono 49.
I thought that both teams were able to set their own pace. The players let the game come to them. No one seemed like they rushed their shots.
Braham looked to pull away late in the contest. Orono didn't agree with that as they kept on driving to the lane trying to make baskets.
Braham was too much for Orono. In the end Braham came away with the 85-75 victory over Orono.
The leading scorers for Orono was Brady Wohler with 25 points, Anthonie Tholey with 25 points, Conor Borgert 10 points.
The leading scorers for Braham were Tyler Vaughan with 28 points, Anthony Bass, Sam Stigen and Randy Braund all scored 14 points.
