SPRINGFIELD HIGH SCHOOL TOOK ON MINNESOTA TRANSITIONS CHARTER SCHOOL IN A BOYS' HIGH SCHOOL BASKETBALL GAME

Springfield High School took on Minnesota Transitions High School (MTS) in a boys' basketball game. Springfield came into the game with a record of 2-3 and MTS came into the game with a record of 1-5.

Springfield won the tip. Transitions’ Willie Parrish started the game off with a steal and came away with a layup for the first points of the game.

Transitions started the game out on fire. They went on a run to start the game. Springfield had a very difficult time making their shots at the start.

Springfield did a good job of getting the ball out of the net and getting it down the other end of the court in transition.

Transitions called a timeout with 13:38 left in the first half. The score was Transitions 13 and Springfield 9.

Transitions switched between man-to-man and zone defense. They were able to confuse Springfield.

Springfield was careless with the ball. They turned the ball over and Transitions was able to get the ball down the court and score layups.

Springfield shot themselves into the game. They were able to go on a run after Transitions called a timeout.

Springfield took their time on the offensive end. They passed the ball around the three-point line and looked for the open shots. Everyone got their hands on the ball on the offensive end.

Springfield called a timeout with 3:07 left in the first half. The score was Transitions 23 and Springfield 21.

Tyree Schultz for Transitions took the ball hard to the basket. He was able to get open looks at the basket and make shots that he was putting up.

Springfield made another run late in the half.

At halftime the score was Springfield 29 and Transitions 28.

Transitions started the second half in a zone defense. The wanted to spread the Springfield offense out.

Tevin Sims came up with some nice defensive rebounds for Transitions. He played mostly on the low block.

Springfield kept on attacking the basket. Transitions had a hard time hitting shots.

Transitions called a timeout with 13:59 left in regulation. The score was Springfield 38 and Transitions 30.
Springfield was able to get open fast break layups. Transitions was not able to control the tempo the way that they wanted.

Transitions called a timeout with 11:23 left in regulation. The score was Springfield 45 and Transitions 37.

Both teams traded baskets midway though the second half. Transitions looked to use their speed to get around the Springfield defenders.

Springfield went to a zone defense with just under 10:00 left in regulation. Even though they had shown zone defense earlier in the game they stayed in the zone for a good portion of the second half.

Transitions went on a run with 9:00 left in regulation. They were able to slow down the Springfield offense.

Transitions went to a full court press with just under 4:00 left. They looked for quick steals.

Springfield called a timeout with 2:37 left on the clock. The score was Springfield 67 and Transitions 55.

In a hard fought game Springfield came away with the 76-67 victory over Transitions. I thought that both teams played hard. No one gave up on either team.

The leading scorers for Transitions were David Wallendorf with 19 points, Willie Parris 15 points and Tevin Sims with 12 points. The leading scores for Springfield were Alex Fink with 24 points, Isaac Kirsehstein with 21 points and Cole Milbrath with 9 points.

Their was a great performance by the MTS drum line. The drummers played throughout the first half and kept everyone entertained.
