MILLER TIME TOOK ON ERROL CARLSTROM PLAYAZ IN A HOWARD PULLEY PRO CITY BASKETBALL GAME

Miller Time went up against Errol Carlstrom Playaz in a basketball game. Miller Time got out to a quick 8-2 lead with 7:49 left in the first quarter before Errol Carlstrom Playaz called a timeout.

Miller Time got the ball into the hands of guard Troy Bell. Bell was all over the floor on both ends of the floor. On the defensive end he was able to slow his guy down and make it more difficult for him to shoot the ball.

The score went back and forth late in the first half. Errol Carlstrom Playaz found their shots and their confidence late in the quarter.

Jamar Anthony Diggs and Cameron Rundles found each had great court awareness which enable them to find their teammates and set pick and rolls to free up each other for easy jump shots or lay-ups.

Diggs was spot on his offensive game. He was able to convert from everywhere on the floor. He had a nice mid-range jump shot that he took just inside the three-point line that he made on a consistent basis.

Troy Bell twisted his ankle with 1:42 left in the first quarter. He left the game on his own power.

University of Minnesota basketball recruit Wally James Ellenson was all over the floor. On the offensive end he made good moves around the basket. He was strong with the ball and he knew where his teammates were on the floor.

At the end of the first quarter the score was Miller Time 23 and Errol Carlstrom Playaz 19.

As the third quarter got underway both teams started in man-to-man defense. Miller Time also used mostly a man-to-man defense. The defensive pressure that each team played was very intense. That made for some good competitive basketball as both teams had to work for their shots.

Antonio Tate for Miller Time played some tough defense. He was determined that no one was going to get an easy look at the basket.

Both teams took advantage of fast break opportunities when available. The players all looked for the long pass whenever possible in an attempt to beat the defensive pressure down the court.

Bell checked back into the game with 4:57 left in the second quarter. He didn't seem to be bothered by his ankle.

Errol Carlstrom Playaz held their own in the first half they were not able to get their shots going.

At halftime the score was Miller Time 47 and Errol Carlstrom Playaz 44.

As the third quarter got underway both teams continued to race up and down the court jacking up shots.

Errol Carlstrom Playaz made a strong comeback but was not able to go get a lead in the third quarter. They shot the ball from everywhere. Miller Time turned up the defensive pressure late in the third quarter which enable them to move out to a 6 point lead.

At the end of the third quarter the score was Miller Time 74 and Errol Carlsrom Playaz 68.

The defensive pressure of these two teams heated in fourth quarter as each team tried to get control of the game. Both teams recognized the need to have a sense of urgency as the game was winding down. Neither team wanted to give up easy shots.

Bell continued to shoot the ball and crashed the boards late in the contest. Errol Carlstrom Playaz had trouble defending Bell when he took the ball to the basket.

Errol Carlstrom Playaz tried to rally late in the contest. The game was tied at 92 on Cameron Rundles lay-up with just over 2:00 left in regulation. The score went back and forth in the final two minutes of the contest.

The game was decided in the final minute of the game. In the end Miller time came away with the 110-104 victory over Errol Carlstrom Playaz.

I thought that Troy Bell played well throughout the game. He came up with some big plays down the stretch to will his team to victory.

The leading scorers for Errol Carlstrom Playaz were Jefferson Mason with 22 points, Cameron Rundles with 20 points, Jamar Diggs with 20 points, Eric Coleman with 12 points, Mitch Ohnsted with 11 points.

The leading scorers for Miller Time were Akeem Cabie with 29 points, Mike Campbell with 22 points, and Troy Bell 18 points.
